Meet Khetanya Henderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khetanya Henderson.

Hi Khetanya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Actor.Dancer.Creator.Fitness – Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. My passion for fitness began with my love for acting, dance and music. I started my fitness career as an Instructor, Trainer and Manager in New York City, working amongst the city’s top celebrity trainers and sought after Instructors. I quickly learned how much I enjoyed helping and empowering others through their fitness journey.

Several years later, I decided to head west to Los Angeles to further pursue acting and fitness. Having the opportunity to teach at studios such as Body by Simone, Hot Pilates, Equinox and Speir Pilates allowed me to be trained and certified in formats such as Dance Cardio, Trampoline, Sculpt, Pilates MAT, Pilates Reformer, HITT, TRX, Barre and Boot Camp. Since March 2020, with the challenges of quarantine and lockdown, I leaned into my fitness experience as an Instructor and manager and launched an online platform, Movement. Strength. Training home of the SXYSX six weeks fitness and wellness program that empowers clients to take a deeper dive into their nutrition and fitness goals through support and community. In addition, there is personal training offered and Virtual live classes in cardio, strength, Pilates and recovery.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There weren’t any huge challenges I didn’t think I could overcome. However, there were some nerves present when thinking whether to start a virtual business or not. But when making the final decision, I said to myself, “my tribe will find me”. And they did! I am very grateful for them.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Along with fitness, I am also a retired dancer and working actor. My favorite dance credits include Hairspray, Enchanted and Cirque du Soleil’s award-winning show, Love, The Beatles Show in the role of Lady Madonna. Since moving to Los Angeles, I have had the opportunity to work with brands such as Target, Peleton and Rakuten commercially. When I am not busy auditioning, I am creating ideas for a new script.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Besides the beautiful weather, I can get avocado toast and a decent slice a pizza all on the same block in Hollywood. When I have to travel from the east side of town to the west side, the traffic can be appalling.
