Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Smith.
Hi Kara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had an interest in fashion, travel and business. When I was in my early twenties, I started a fashion company that was met with an overwhelming amount of success. At the same time, I was helping a friend, who would later become my business partner for a period of time, to run her interior design company. Together we did a tremendous amount of exciting high-end residential and hospitality work throughout the US and abroad. We became so busy that I had to decide which industry I was going to focus all my time and attention toward. I had to give up fashion, which will always have a special place in my heart, and have dedicated the past two decades toward becoming an expert in my field of interior design.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t think anyone’s journey is ever smooth and mine is certainly no exception. Keeping clients and staff through multiple recessions and a pandemic was a challenge, especially with all of the uncertainty.
We’ve been impressed with KES Studio, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
KES Studio offers a specialized and high-end suite of interior design services, including concept development, custom FF&E, interior architecture, art curation, procurement service and white glove installation. Our client base is a mixture of exclusive residential clients and five star and boutique hotels.
What matters most to you? Why?
Professionally, doing good work is the most important guiding principal that I operate with. I literally stay up nights making sure every detail works, the budget is accounted for and that our clients are getting the best-finished product they can hope for. It is always such a joy when a vision is realized and I can be proud of what my team and I have accomplished, especially knowing the positive impact it will have on my clients.
