Meet Kaby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaby.

Hi Kaby, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been a performer since a young age doing mostly covers as a hobby. I played soccer all my life as my main focus until getting kicked out of high school led me to focus on other interests. I initially started writing as a coping skill and mainly wrote poetry. I began to write poetry to instrumentals of J. Cole beats which prompt me to start writing to other genres. I shared my rap videos on a finsta account I had in high school and they got a lot of attention which led me to make my account public. The more I perfected my craft, the more I grew my audience. I was still doing music as a hobby, not fully convinced it could be a stable career so I was going to college in Fresno for my psychology degree and making music any chance of free time I had. Although school was easy for me, I had no passion to pursue psychology for the rest of my life and couldn’t envision myself in that career field. I had a moment of reevaluating what made me happy and what I wanted to do with my life versus what others wanted from me. I started my own company Dulce ENT. and partnered with a friend on another business, Beaux Monde Media and invested my time and money into my own businesses rather than someone else’s. I also took half my classes off my schedule. After 7-8 months of growing my company and perfecting my music craft, I gained enough confidence to make the jump. I quit my job took time off school and moved to LA with to pursue music right after my 21st birthday last May. The faith I had in myself led me to where I am today multiplying my income and growing not only my businesses but my music platform as well. I’m blessed to say I haven’t had to look back since quitting my job and I am reaffirmed all the time I made the right decision. This is still only the beginning of my career and I’m excited to share all I’ve worked on since moving here. FREETHATB coming soon.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Everything comes in epps and flows but for the most part, I feel like I’ve moved smart and had a pretty smooth journey with a positive outlook regardless of circumstances. I wouldn’t say I had any struggles, just challenges. I try to look at challenges as objectively as possible and stay solution based but some of the things I’ve had to overcome include finding a way to make money passively so I could focus on my music, as well as staying focused while in LA and not getting lost in the sauce. My best advice for overcoming those things are 1 invest in yourself and capitalize off whatever you are naturally good at and to remember that you are never missing out on anything and your energy is precious so you gotta stay out of the mix because that’s how you lose your flavor.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist. I rap and sing and everything in between. I’m a lyricist and I love the whole process of what I do. I write all my music and I take creative direction on all my music videos. I’m known for being that b.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’m huge on manifesting and to get to a new level, you have to leave behind a lot of old ways of thinking/moving to bring your manifestation to fruition. I think risk taking is the only way to jump to the next level since leaving behind old habits is a risk itself because it feels uncomfortable. In that discomfort of the risk is where you grow and start to move different in a more aligned way with whatever new level you’re trying to reach and with the right mindset, you’ll always thank yourself for taking that risk.
