Meet Juwan Conaway

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Juwan Conaway. Juwan was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Parish Walker.

Juwan, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Coming from such a big family taught me a lot, especially how to deal with different types of people. I always looked up to my grandfather Roosevelt Jones, may God rest his soul. He was a bass singer in his group, ‘The Stars of Bethlehem.’ I’ve always been in love with music. My cousin Maine is a producer and when he saw my interest, he game me a chance and allowed me to be around while he made beats, and recorded with other artists. Soaking all of that in at a young age provided me with all the motivation in the world. Throughout the years I’ve been trying to develop a team and evolve. And although it’s a struggle at times, I remember the great words of Nipsey Hussle, “it’s a Marathon.” So as I keep working through the hard times and focus on achieving my goal, I know I’m in the race and not stopping at all.

Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
My art is mental. I’m not rapping just to rap, I’m talking. People go through life situations, and begin to sometimes brush it off like it doesn’t matter or bother them. Leading to them not voicing their opinions and what they feel is right, and allowing others to keep them in the shadows. I’ve always been the quiet type, but never one to not use their voice. I talk my shit, and I stand by it. That’s how I want others to feel. And they can see all of that by checking out these links. https://linktr.ee/Jdouble_C

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Parish Walker and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Parish.
Parish is the type of artist that inspires the world! More than anything I’m a fan that’s why I love working with her. Our first time in the studio together was January 28, 2022. It was a song of mine and although I sent her the beat and we exchanged vocals, through voice recordings, when she hopped in the booth and laid down her verse, I turned to my brother, and we both had the expression of she’s the real fucking deal. I also messaged my cousin who I look up to personally and professionally Maine, and told him how Parish made me step my game up to a whole other level. Wasn’t too long after when she invited me to her session, and working on a great body of work, her album, ‘The Lady With a Crown.’ I had the privilege to be on a track called ‘Running Around’ and one thing she told me really stuck with me. She said, “I can hear you on this track. Now I’m not sure if I’ll use it on the final version of the album but kill it.” Needless to say that just motivated me to give this track full uncut honesty, and it became one of her singles to get people ready for the album. It’s honestly everybody’s favorite song, especially if we perform it live! One thing for sure is that Parish brings out the best of people, when it’s be a collaboration, and as a listener. The relationship is so strong I invited her out to LA where I’m developing a solid sound for myself. When we hear a beat, we’ll start off with different Melodies, and flows. Once we l have those, we go into a topic and get to work! We’ll sit there for hours, listen to it on repeat, and when the feeling is there and we notice the track doesn’t only sound good but takes us on a journey, that’s when we know the world is ready to hear it. There is so much more that’s that Parish and Jdouble C have to show, and I not only as a close friend/ family, but as a fan, cannot wait for everyone else to experience. Parish is my favorite artist to work with!
