Meet Javier Gonzalez of Javi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Gonzalez.

Javier, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started djing during High School, with my collection of Vinyl Records of all genres. At that time thou I was big into the Rockabilly, Punk, Psychobilly scene; so besides buying vinyl albums of hip-hop, 80’s new wave etc, I would also buy 33’s and 45’s singles of my favorite 50’s n 60’s artists. At that time also, I would be djing at local gigs and backyard parties.

My first club experience was actually in the genre of Punk and Rock n Roll where I would bring my vinyl records both 45’s and 33’s and spin music in between bands. I would get creative and throw old 80’s hip-hop also and people would dig the vibe! While doing that thou, that’s when the whole technology change I would start spinning other genre’s ex. Hip-hop, EDM, house, latin on my MacBook at other types of clubs.

How I landed at Dash Radio was that way before Dash it was called Skee Radio, I had experience with radio guest djing for podcasts and the old indie 103.1 here in LA. I was brought in as a guest DJ for a show called Red Cup Nation. The female co-host digged my vibe and brought me in on a project for the Latin format which is still called Fuego, this project led me to do work with Chuy Bravo! It ran for a good year between Dash and Iheart Radio Podcast.

After this project, I was reached out by my great friend Calipso Aranda, about her show called Movimiento. I audition and the rest was history! We’ve been on air Live on Dash Radio for 1 year now Every Saturday 1-4pm PST, making our show one of most listened on thLatinin format Fuego and also led me to open a new door and starting my own Mixtape show called “Chune Y Ritmo” Friday Nights 9pm-12am PST with my partner @iammikegoodness

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing is never a smooth road! I made sacrifices along the way to where I am at now.

Friends come and go in my life, I had to take/switch days at my current job as a nurse to accommodate my djing/production dream of radio. Club djing wise it was either a hit or miss on certain nights and at times I would have to take a cut.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Javi story. Tell us more about the business.
Besides working for Dash radio, I’m also a music producer for artists and commercials. I also have a promo/DJ team called We Are New Elite, where we do promo and DJ various clubs all over California.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The goal is travel more, do more radio work, and just network, network and more network. I also want the team to build so we can teach newcomers in this business when it comes to the promo, marketing, producing and djing.

Awesome to hear a real person’s story, and to know that he has another job besides being a Dj. It’s nice to know he’s a person just like me, trying to work and hustle. Keep up the hard work and continued success sir.
