Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivan Giang.
Hi Ivan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my business during the pandemic on the sidewalk in Koreatown before that, I used to work at a sushi restaurant over ten years. Plus, I thought I might as give a gamble and start my own business I would rather take a shot at it rather than regret it; in the beginning, it was a struggle on the sidewalk of K-town I keep pushing and working. Now I do pop up at brewery and event, still a struggle but it getting a little better as long as I don’t quit, I’ll be ok.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Struggle will always be there; starting of on a sidewalk in K-town was a big struggle, a long night dealing with family doubts, and starting off a lot of sacrifices with personal life/relationships, but things are starting to get a little better step by step.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I care about the quality and the price point, keeping everything as affordable as possible. I make my ponzu sauce, spicy Mayo, and vinegar in-house from scratch, and I also make bento boxes for pets, bringing joy to me when I run into people/ clients that truly enjoy my craft, especially when they come and show love after eating my sushi.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I’m always learning and trying to improve. I care about the people as much as I care about the quality of the food. I’m still growing and trying to aim for perfection, at least as close as possible.
