Meet BAD BIRDY of The House of Machines in Arts District

Today we’d like to introduce you to BAD BIRDY.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began bartending at a local craft cocktail bar in the small city of Downey, where I was born. I fell in love with the craft quickly and I was hungry to learn everything I could. I would spend a lot of time reading books about spirits, cocktails even cooking books. My city has a local farmers market every Saturday that I would visit and buy ingredients to play with and create cocktails that were seasonal. This is how I really challenged myself when I was just starting to create my own formula for creating recipes.

As my skills progressed, I decided to treat my social media as a platform to showcase my work, little did I know, then that all the work I put into to my social media would catapult me into the position I am now. With the growth of my platform came the growth of my career and the people in the industry I looked up to the most were beginning to reach out. It was truly an honor to gain so much support and I was humbled by the love I was receiving!

Eventually, I was approached by my current employer Alliance Brands Limited (ABL) in becoming their Global Cocktail Creative. Now, I have the opportunity to travel the world help design bars, train incredible teams and implement unique menus for the several brands housed by ABL! It has truly been the highlight of my career and I am excited for all the projects we have yet to embark on with my team.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say there were any struggles along the way, only learning. This industry is changing every single day and I will forever be a student to my craft. It is not easy to keep up with everything that is happening, all the new techniques to learn, even techniques yet to be discovered. I do my best to constantly challenge myself and learn something new. The industry life is not an easy one, especially with all the late nights. I find it extremely important to always take some time to cater to my mind, body, and spirit to keep me energized along the way.

The House of Machines – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
There are two businesses I am proud to be a part of, the first being my own brand; BAD BIRDY LLC. Also, Alliance Brands Limited (ABL) and the several brands we house which include: The House of Machines, Tokyo Crows, Yoko Yono, Outrage of Modesty & Evil Twin Coffee.

BAD BIRDY became a brand all on its own, it began as a nickname and is the name people recognize for my social media. People began to recognize me the more my page grew and I have to say I was probably known for using alternative techniques such as; liquid nitrogen, fire, and smoke in my cocktails. I’m sure being covered in tattoos played a part in it as well! Although, these are just exterior identifiers. What I am truly passionate about in expressing through my platform is an inspiration. Inspiration to be unique, to more kind and to love everyone regardless of gender, religion, culture, etc… this is what BAD BIRDY is truly about.

Alliance Brands Limited has been a company that has truly changed my life. I could not be more proud to work for a team as unique as ABL. They have given me an opportunity to be known on a global scale but even more importantly, they have absolute confidence in me to execute the vision for each of our brands. As a team, we are fortunate enough to travel the world visiting the best bars around the globe. From each experience, we are able to gather knowledge and use this to create an experience in each of our venues that may be influenced by different cultures. This is what truly makes us unique.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career has been the continued support and love from people all over the world.
