Meet Gregory Brito of One11 in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Brito.

Gregory, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started off like any kid without studio equipment would, I was rapping in my school cafeteria. Although I enjoyed those moments I did not put real energy behind the craft. After High School, I attended Morehouse College and put my focus on my education because coming from Harlem that was the legal way to the money. It wasn’t until years in corporate America coupled with a destroyed relationship that I learned how to rechannel my creative energy. As I began to tap back onto my creative space I realized that the job that provided me financial stability lacked giving me mental stability, I flourished Financially but my spirits and my mentality suffered. I began to write music and it became an outlet for me. Three years later, an opportunity arose and I realized something had to change. I left everything in NY and moved to the west coast to work as a stylist on movie and music sets. The new-found freedom had given me more free time to really perfect my craft. Here I am two years in LA and An Orange Sunset is out on all music platforms.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in this world worth anything comes easy. My music helps me express different struggles at different points in my life.

Please tell us about One11.
Hailing from Harlem, New York One11 is an emerging new artist, who’s style artistically crafts experiences into catchy melodies with a unique honesty. My name is one11 and it derives from 11:11. One11 comes from the idea that it is never the perfect time or a perfect moment for anything. As humans, we have had to realize the perfect time doesn’t exist without our own personal actions, we seize the moment. Currently, I am most proud of my first project An Orange Sunset out on all music platforms now.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child would be my family gatherings, mobbing with all my cousins from both sides of my family.
