Meet Giulia Cantini of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giulia Cantini

Hi Giulia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started in Italy, in a small town in Piemonte. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the creative world and the arts, which led me to pursue a classical education before following my passion at university. I moved to Milan to study at an academy of fine arts, where I earned my degree in Fashion Design.

After graduating, my interest shifted more toward the world of communication. I started working in creative agencies, gaining experience in branding, graphic design, and content creation. In 2018, I took the leap into freelancing, allowing me to work more closely with brands I truly connect with. As a graphic designer and content creator, I specialize in the beauty and fashion industries—areas that have always been a source of inspiration for me.

Then, in 2023, I made the biggest move of my career: I relocated to Los Angeles. This transition opened up new opportunities, challenges, and creative collaborations, pushing me to grow both professionally and personally. Today, I focus on crafting visual stories that resonate, combining my italian background with the dynamic energy of the U.S. market.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—like any creative career, mine has been filled with challenges, but each one has been a learning opportunity.

One of the biggest challenges was transitioning from a traditional agency environment to freelancing. When I decided to work independently in 2018, I had to build my own client base from scratch, manage every aspect of my business, and navigate the ups and downs of self-employment. It was both exciting and overwhelming, but it taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of networking.

Then, in 2023, moving to Los Angeles was another major shift. Adapting to a new country, a different professional landscape, and a competitive market was not easy. Establishing myself in a city full of talent required patience, perseverance, and a lot of effort. There were moments of uncertainty, but I stayed focused on my goals and kept pushing forward.

Despite the obstacles, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every struggle has made me stronger, and I’m grateful for the opportunities that have come from pushing through the difficult moments.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a graphic designer and content creator, and I help brands—especially in skincare, makeup, and fashion—bring their stories to life through design and visuals. I’ve always been fascinated by the power of aesthetics and how they shape the way we experience brands, which is what led me to this career.

My studies in fashion design gave me a strong foundation in aesthetics, composition, and visual storytelling, which naturally evolved into my work in graphic design and content creation. Over time, I realized that what I loved most was the communication side—how a brand presents itself, how visuals create emotions, and how design can make something truly unforgettable. That’s why I focused on helping brands develop their identity, social presence, and overall visual storytelling.

What I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built with my clients. Many of them have been with me for years, trusting me to not just execute their vision but also to bring new ideas to the table. I love that my work is a mix of strategy and creativity—finding that balance between what looks beautiful and what actually resonates with people.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think luck plays a role in life and business, but it’s really about what you do with it. I’ve had moments where things just seemed to fall into place—meeting the right people at the right time, stumbling upon an opportunity I wasn’t even looking for. Moving to Los Angeles, for example, felt like a huge risk, but certain connections and unexpected chances made the transition a little easier.

But at the same time, I don’t think luck is ever the full story. Every opportunity I’ve had came after years of hard work, showing up, and staying consistent. You can be in the right place at the right time, but if you’re not ready for the opportunity, it won’t mean much.

I’ve also had my fair share of bad luck—projects falling through, moments of doubt, things not going as planned. But even those experiences have pushed me to grow, pivot, and figure things out in ways I wouldn’t have otherwise.

So yeah, luck has played a role, but I think what really matters is how you respond to it—whether it’s good or bad.
