Today we’d like to introduce you to Frank Zummo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born & raised in Long Island, NY and into a musical family and started drumming at two years old. After seeing Motley Crue & Ozzy in Concert at age 5, I knew this was what I wanted to do for my career. I took every drumming job I could and studied drums for many years. I moved to Los Angeles 14 years ago to pursue my dreams, and it was the absolute greatest decision, and I’ve been living my dream every day here!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been many bumps along the way, but those are part of the journey and things that really shape you as an artist.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I play drums for the rock band Sum 41 and also own Street Drum Corps, which is a drum show that tours the world with multiple troupes.
I’m most proud that Street Drum Corps is able to give amazing upcoming drummers opportunities and jobs doing what they absolutely love!
Personally, I’m really proud that I’m able to support my family with my art.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Sitting down to dinner with my parents and them telling me as long as I kept on my dedicated drumming path, they would 100% support me. That support is truly what drives me to this day! I never had a plan B and never will.
