Meet Erik Blackwell of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erik Blackwell.

Hi Erik, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Blackwell started performing magic at the age of 10. Now, at 26, he’s gone from performing at weddings and birthday parties throughout the country, to dazzling millions around the world across his social media platforms. His arsenal of illusions include levitation, sleight of hand, turning fire and cards into money, and mentalism, to name a few, and have astounded crowds of all ages, including A-lists celebrities such as LL Cool J, Usher, Faith Evans, and social media sensation Michael Blackson, among others. The talented magician is also passionate about giving back, and has performed for a number of nonprofit and civil rights organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Marionjoy Rehabilitation Hospital and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. Blackwell currently resides in Los Angeles, California, where he works on creating new mind-blowing tricks every day to continue to entertain, amaze and inspire audiences around the world with his gift for magic.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Sure there are things that go on in life to stop things from happening smoothly! However, I have been able to overcome any obstacles to have occurred in my life. I used to take buses and trains 18 hours +2 different cities to practice and perform magic on random people and perform at different events! It was not very easy doing what I do, especially kind of from Chicago. But it’s definitely worth everything that I have went through! I do not regret anything.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been doing MAGIC since I was eight years old, and have done it through elementary, junior high, in high school! I have one all of my talent shows in high school and have been broadcasted all over my schools, TVs to all of my students and administration! When I graduated high school, my teachers in an administration would hire me to do the senior graduation parties. And then they will hire me to do their personal house parties.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
How do I exercise being able to take care of your family, and be able to overcome any negative obstacle that leads your way! I also believe if you can be financially comfortable and be comfortable in your own skin, you are a successful person in my book
