Meet Elodie Rêverie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elodie Rêverie. 

Hi Elodie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to reconnect.  So, before we get into specifics, for folks who missed our prior converstaion, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
A person is in a state of flow “when they are totally immersed in a task. When a person is “in flow,” they may not notice time passing, think about why they are doing the task, or judge their efforts. Instead, they remain focused.” I imagine Juan Trippe, founder of Pan American Airways, and my great grandfather experienced flow state in his aspirations for world travel, and while he put many of these aspirations into effect. I imagine many of you have experienced this too, and as a singer and songwriter, it is a state I have grown accustomed to. I know for me personally, the risk he took in pursuing something with low odds of success inspired me. While I am proud of his accomplishments, it is the risk, not the outcome, which has resonated with me the most and perhaps shaped my own path. I do not know what the outcome of my career will be, but I have succeeded in taking a risk. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. I have walked off stage and ended performances that were going badly. I have worried about and believed I will fail. My mental health has suffered from pressure I place on myself. I am trying to find a way to make it work in a field I love without losing my head. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For the past two years, I have won awards for best lyrics and verse from the California Music Video awards and I take pride in my lyrics. 

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like the sunshine, and I live a block from the beach with a view of the pier and mountains. I don’t have a driver’s license and so leaving my neighborhood and getting around affordably is a challenge and am a fan of my native hometown’s public transportation system, the subway.
