Meet DeShawn Smith of CAMP ALL-IN in Banning

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeShawn Smith.

DeShawn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started off by taking my kids to the park to get the extra training. And then met a guy by the name of Allan that has the same passion as I do. And he too has kids that are around my kid’s age. So the two of us started going hard in the paint training our own kids. And slowly but surely kids started to roll in, parents started to pull up to the park. And coach Allan and I saw that Banning needs something for the youth. So we started letting parents know that we’re apart of our LBA Football program. Still parents weren’t having it until they started to see the results on the field or whatever sports it is that their kids play. Then over the months, more and more parents and kids started to reach out to me and my staff. And the numbers started to grow. And here comes COVID-19!! When everybody got scared and stayed in their houses, we refused to let Government Antics pump fear into our hearts. What’s crazy is, we have had more kids join the camp through COVID! It’s about trusting the process! Nothing great happens overnight.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building and branding the CAMP
Finances
Staffing
Time away from family
City members trying to shut me down
Parents that do not care about their own child

We’d love to hear more about your organization.
