Today we’d like to introduce you to Deepicka Mehta.
Deepicka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was on my way to becoming a doctor when I decided to take a detour and explore photography. Through a long and complicated series of events, I found myself pursuing my rekindled passion and love for the creative arts. Photography was always there for me from the beginning. I was the designated photographer, behind the camera, capturing moments since I could remember. It was nice to reflect back on those moments and relive them like they happened yesterday. I had worked multiple fashion shows and model portfolios, but my heart was set on weddings from the day I shot my first one.
As a hopeless romantic, my creative juices flowed naturally. Though I was hired as a photographer, I usually ended leaving the night as family. Wedding photography was my new home. I was able to view the world through a different lens. From finding the beauty in each soul to taking on abstract portraits, I was able to define my style. Through trial and error, I found a system that works for me and my couples by providing maximum satisfaction. If they could relive each moment with the same emotional intensity as their wedding day, I’d done my job.
Has it been a smooth road?
I’ll be completely honest, this has been a bumpy road. Coming from a science background, I had zero knowledge about business and marketing; though I’m proud to say everything I am today has been driven by motivation, passion, and practice. I was able to establish DSA Photography as a business entity, cover all legalities and licenses, and grow a stead social media presence. Apart from the technical aspects of business, I decided to venture into a market that was already saturated and competitive. Building my niche and growing my clientele was a challenge of its own. I’m happy to say most of my clients are based off of referrals and social media platforms. I believe life is a never-ending learning process and am constantly striving to grow and improve my skillsets. From providing positive client experiences to capturing raw moments, I was able to define my style that is natural, authentic, and colorful. My personality, approachability, and creativity have allowed me to define myself as a respected, professional in this industry. It’s been a long, twisted path, but the journey was worth it. My driving force has always been the priceless smiles of my couples as they say their I do’s.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with DSA Photography by Deepicka Mehta – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
DSA Photography stands for the pillars of my success: me and my siblings. I strive to provide all of my clients with a state of the art, personal connection. From the initial inquiry to the last event of the night, my couples should feel unique and secure knowing they are receiving 200% from the team. My clients will always find me a call away. As I mentioned before, my style is authentic, natural, and colorful. My images are authentic to the day and the moment, so they ensue the same emotional response 5, 10, even 50 years from now. I don’t do any crazy edits like sky replacements, HDR, extreme retouching, unless requested by the client. I believe photography is there to enhance the moment, and that is precisely what I do. You’ll notice most of my images are colorful in background but also in the moments. I ensure the bride and groom’s vision is met based on their style preferences, personalities, and family. Provided that, a wedding is full of emotions from the tears to the laughs. I specialize in anticipating and capturing those moments as they happen. Often times the wedding goes by in a blur and the couple misses out on those key moments. A single image can speak a thousand emotional responses, and that is our job. I’m known for making my couple’s feel comfortable and relaxed on their wedding day. I take away the fear of the camera during their engagement session and make them love the spotlight. I pride myself and the company because our clients get what they request. I can’t wait to grow my business further, but don’t plan on building a corporation of 200+ weddings per year. I’d rather have my client have me all to themselves, than divided among 5 other couples on the same day. I’m lucky that my passion became my profession. I don’t view weddings as work, rather as an opportunity to be present between two love birds as they tie the knot.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’ve been raised in Orange County pretty much since I was 7. OC is safe and familiar, LA on the other hand has more opportunities and locations. I love the LA vibes of the people around it, and the food. The food is always great, so many options to choose from. My only dislike is the crazy traffic, one-way streets, and tight, meter parking.
