Meet Daron Hollowell of Ring The Alarm in Boyle Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daron Hollowell.

Daron, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ring the Alarm began in 2014 as a music and culture company dedicated to bringing both innovation and beauty into the world. We are lucky to be a part of an artistic community that believes in the spirit of collaboration; allowing us the opportunity to work with brands we trust. We carry this same spirit into everything we work on, from music records and ads to films and our beer.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Never been on a smooth road. Creating something truly innovative requires patience and perseverance and a total belief in what you are doing… In time, you find your audience when you are being true to yourself and following your own inspiration but it rarely happens overnight.

Ring The Alarm – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Ring The Alarm specializes in collaboration and innovation, we are interested in finding amazing partners to create things with, ideally things that haven’t been done before. We seek out these partners in any place that we find inspiration, usually that is music related but not always. For instance, we just created our own beer, Day Beer, recently with some amazing brewing partners here in LA.

We believe this approach by its very nature sets us apart, each creation or project is unique to that collaboration and could not be made by anyone else. We have been able to be a part of bringing some amazing ideas to life and look forward to many more.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Tons and tons of money! Actually, we define success by how well the process goes on any given project and whether the goals we and our partners set are achieved…if that happens we consider it a success. We are less interested in the end result or outside reception.
