Meet Darlene Darling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlene Darling.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started? 
Growing up in Maryland, I was always involved in the arts as a kid: dancing, singing, and acting. I fell in love with the craft at a young age and have been in love with it ever since. I moved to LA almost 5 years ago to pursue those passions, and it’s been an amazing ride. I’ve been in over 50 commercials, modeled for amazing brands, led a feature film, and more. And even with those accomplishments it feels like just the beginning. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were definitely struggles along the way. I always say this industry is not for the weak cause it will eat you up if you let it. I’ve had lots of moments of discouragement, rejection, moments where you get so close just to lose the role or gig. It can take a toll on you, but you have to keep going. Those moments only make you more resilient. One closed door just means you’re getting closer, and I believe what is for you is only for YOU. Having that mindset has helped keep me grounded through it all. The beauty is that the highs far outweigh the lows, so I’m thankful. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So, I’m a multi-hyphenate artist. I’m an actress, singer, model, and dancer. So, I do a lot! I’m mostly known for my all my work, which is awesome. About 2 years ago, I started releasing my own music, and that has been quite a fun ride. For so long, the music I wrote was just for me. It wasn’t until some of my close friends pushed me to release my music and I did. I’ve honestly been overjoyed with the response my music has received thus far. To have people relate to my innermost thoughts is such a fulfilling feeling. My sound is unique in that it’s a genre-bending combination of indie, jazz, hip hop with atmospheric textures. I produce most of my music, so having that creative control is great. 

My new EP, Intergalactic: World’s Collide, is a joint project with the rapper DAMI. This EP is a blend of that genre-bending sound. Our goal with this project is to give listeners an experience, a world in and of itself through the music. Every song has such a different edge, which was a purposeful artistic choice.
