Meet Culver City Makeup Artist: Bianca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca.  She’s had her fair share of struggles, but she’s fought back with strength and grace and she has built the foundation for a thriving career.  We’re excited to share her story with you below.

Bianca, please share your story with us.  How did you get to where you are today?

It honestly came natural. Being around beauty my whole life with my mom being a cosmetologist, I learned about skincare and cosmetics at a very young age. I really have to thank Sephora because the company changed my life. It saved me. I was in a very difficult place in my life at the time dealing with a lot of loss, and just going through one of the most heartbreaking situations and being very lost, I was practically homeless. I applied at Sephora in Century City, and I must have done something right because they gave me a chance. I worked for Sephora 7 years. I learned so much about ingredients, skin types, quality and as cheesy as this sounds, I learned about myself. Practicality grew up with the company. I really owe my life to them. I couldn’t afford school, so I thought myself my techniques with the master classes we were taught. Throughout the years, I’ve met a lot of great people who have brought me on board with their film projects or asked me to do runway makeup or bridal. Just became my life passion and goal to be a great artist who can give the ability to make people feel beautiful inside and out. That is really why I do what I do. I love making people feel good and just learning. I am now working for myself and freelancing for a couple different cosmetic brands in Los Angeles. I have done Runway, Editorial, Film, Award shows and Bridal, and even some special effects.

Has it been a smooth road?

Being successful especially living in Los Angeles is always a struggle. There is so much talent and popularity especially with YouTube blogger craze that has been going around now for a while. It has been a bit hard to compete with all of those fabulous instagram people, but I know my skill, and my worth and I really don’t let it affect me. People come to me because I’m just like them. I love to learn, I love to play with makeup in person, feeling trust and having fun doing it. Every day is a struggle but it’s so worth it!

What are your plans for the future?

I definitely see myself being a salon owner in the future. I have some really fun ideas. It wouldn’t be your typical Beauty Salon. More edgy and young. Also- I’m currently in the beginning stages of creating my own Skin/ Hair/ Makeup line. It’s always been a dream of mine creating Beauty products everyone would be able to use. I’m looking for investors for this project.

Let’s dig a little deeper into your story.  What was the hardest time you’ve had?

I went through a terrible breakup with someone who I saw as my creative muse. Someone who inspired me artistically. When we parted, I felt I lost myself and felt unmotivated and detached. I couldn’t focus and lost interest in everything. Shortly after, I was asked by Ash Hudson, a very well respected Artist and photographer from Los Angeles to collaborate with him. I was not only the Makeup Artist, but the model in this photo-shoot. It was my first time in front of the Camera. I put all of my pain and everything I was going through at that time into the shoot and it came out amazing. I didn’t think I would ever get out of that funk, but doing something for me made me feel alive and stronger. It boosted my confidence and really motivated me to get back to work and focus on doing what makes me happy. I noticed that when you have good people around you in the same field who share the same goals and passions, a lot can change and growth happens. I knew of was going in the right path after that shoot. I thought I lost all hope, but it was just a bump in the road. That was highlight in my career.
