Meet Christine Spooner of Agoura Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Spooner.

Hi Christine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I became a certified Jazzercise Instructor and franchise owner when I first became a Mom. I was a stay at home Mom looking for connection within my community with other moms and also wanted to find a workout where I felt comfortable bringing my baby.

I fell in love with Jazzercise and the women who attended.

Over the years, my passion for fitness grew along with the option to grow my classes. as well as the desire to help others with their fitness journey. I became passionate about connecting with women (especially those who did not enjoy working out) and seeing the transformation as they started feeling better and started to enjoy exercise.

In time, Jazzercise started serving many roles other than just exercise. Lifetime friendships developed in our fit tribe and a strong sense of community took over. Our members feel like family and these women are there for each other day in and day out. We are Always supporting each other thru the good and bad days. Jazzercise checks all the boxes – fun workouts, emotional and mental support thru life and a strong sense of community. I am so proud to be the leader of such a wonder fitness community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like anything in life – there are good days and bad days in the fitness industry. Trying to find quality instructors who are dedicated as much as me has been a struggle over the years. But Jazzercise brings people together and we always find the right fit. Over the years I have seen members come and go. But what I Iove the most about our program is that most people leave to try out other exercise programs -which I actually encourage – but most of our customers return to us once they realize how special our class truly is.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am interested and involved in women’s health and menopause. The science in women’s health has changed drastically over the last few years and science has proven that strength training for women is vital in perimenopause and post menopausal years. It’s the key to slowing the aging process and allows us to enjoy a quality of life as we age. Functional training has become a necessary ingredient in staying healthy. At Jazzercise at Academy of dance, we currently offer a class once a week (every Thursday at 9:15am) called Vital Sculpt HIIT. This class is specifically designed with functional training, the use of heavier weights and directional jumping which are all the necessary components needed to maintain and support women during this phase of life. Age truly is just a number but it takes effort to maintain the lifestyle you want.

This class is intense and it’s designed to be challenging for women who want to stay active in their next chapter of life. Whether that means playing with your grandchildren or traveling during your retirement years. Movement and strength training matters and is the key to longevity.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success in my business is when I get a new person who attends my classes and they tell me how much fun they have working out. They may express that they’ve always hated any form of exercise but they felt safe and comfortable enough in our environment .and they come back for more. A room full of women of every age and stage of life and every fitness level working out and giving it their best is a beautiful thing.
