Today we’d like to introduce you to Cece Debarge.
Cece, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been creative all my life. So win a very good friend of mine who I consider a brother started sending me crystals. I decided to start beading. His son had married into the Swarovski Crystal family so he had plenty to share. I had no real experience in beading But had always been interested in crystals and have books that I study and also watch videos online. I started with making bracelets for family and friends.
As I got better at my craft, I realized how much I enjoyed creating & how good I’ve become. I hadn’t intended to start a business but here I am. I have found my new obsession. I’d like to give many thanks to the model in the photos that gave my creations life. Mya is such a pleasure to work with. Keep your eyes out for this lovely lady. A treasure, truly a hidden gem.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My biggest challenges are funds and handling business matters. My friend has helped me so graciously with the crystals however I needed other crystals to incorporate into my designs. This meant I needed funds for supplies and tools. My nephew helped by being one of my biggest supporters. I have created many pieces for him. Also, my daughter started investing on a regular basis. The business matter are a challenge because it’s all new to me. I’m looking forward to getting a business grant or loan so I can expand the business. I would like to hire someone to handle the business so that I can spend my time doing what I love which is creating.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a jewelry designer that specializes in creating custom jewelry pieces for my clients. I use a variety of sizes, shapes and colors of crystals. Some of my favorites are Tigers eye, Jasper, hematite, onyx, quartz, amethyst, Citrine, and Agate. I am known for using authentic crystals in my designs. I remind my clients that when we leave here we return to the earth and with crystals that we wear our ancestors proudly. That they can choose to carry themselves as royalty. I cleanse and bless every creation. I’m grateful that I’ve been blessed to create such beautiful unisex jewelry for my Queens & Kings. Bracelets, necklaces, ankles, earrings, and Bellychains are my favorite… Most proud of being able to teach others about the healing properties that each Crystal possesses. I also incorporate crystals on to clothing as you can see in my photos. I put crystals on medal ringlets then loop then on the strands of material. It’s time-consuming but worth it when I see the finished garment. Pricing varies depending on the crystals & item the customer desires. What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I enjoy drawing, gymnastics, gardening, crocheting and most of all singing and dancing. I was very studious and enjoyed going to school. I loved caring for animals. I had a dog, cat, and birds. One day my mother came in to find I had brought a whole litter of kittens home. She yelled my name because she knew it was me. I am a major animal lover. I was someone that had a few friends, I spent a lot of time at home being creative. I dreamt of being a singer. I would dress up and rehearse Diana Ross and the Supremes songs. It was Diana and my sisters were the Supremes. It was my favorite thing to do. I’ve always been into fashion and models as a teen. My great sense of style has caught the eyes of many… I love fashion.
