Meet Camarie Greenwald of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camarie Greenwald.

Hi Camarie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I first discovered hypnotherapy, I was actually training to become a court reporter, which is the person in the courtroom who takes down the verbatim testimony. I had been in school much longer than expected and, although I had graduated, I was struggling to pass the California Shorthand Reporters test. My brick and mortar school had recently closed, and I was continuing to self-train through an online program, but I could tell that my speed and skills were slipping. I was feeling really hopeless and depressed about not passing the state exam, which I had taken seven times.

I was feeling so depressed and stuck that I decided I should start meditating and taking care of my mental health, and I began following a hypnosis Instagram account recommended by a friend. One day, I saw that they were offering a free webinar about hypnosis and becoming a hypnotherapist. I was curious, so I attended the webinar. This is where I first learned a little bit about what hypnotherapy is and how it works.

I was intrigued by how quickly hypnosis works for people and how impactful it is in helping people heal a multitude of issues. I really liked what I heard, and I thought to myself, “I could do this. It would fit me really well.” I have always been the kind of person who people feel safe and comfortable with, and who others come to with their problems. I’m a good listener, patient, calm, understanding, and nonjudgmental. I started to get excited about the idea of becoming a hypnotherapist. Honestly, I thought it could be a good side job to do while I continued to work towards becoming a court reporter. So I signed up for the program.

It was a six-month long program, mostly online, with two in-person trainings that I attended in Florida. The more I studied the material, the more excited I became. Once I attended the in-person trainings and experienced hypnosis myself for the first time, I was truly convinced of the positive healing impact that hypnotherapy has. I came away from those sessions a changed person– more confident, more positive, and with much less depression!

I graduated from hypnotherapy school in October of 2020 and was certified with the International Association of Counselors and Therapists. I let go of the idea of becoming a court reporter, and dedicated myself fully to helping others heal. I was actually hired by the school as one of their online hypnotherapists, and over the next few years I helped hundreds of clients work through many, many different issues like anxiety, nail biting, trust issues, fear of flying, confidence, anger management, inner child healing, and so much more. I worked with the company until 2024, when I then decided to become fully independent.

In that time frame, I also discovered EFT tapping, which stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is a stress reduction technique which can also be used for all kinds of emotional blocks and issues. I became certified in EFT in 2022, and I love combining the two techniques with clients to create incredibly impactful healing sessions.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! I think a lot of the struggles have been mental. I have had to work through my own blocks in order to help other people through theirs. There have been times when I have felt insecure about my skills or have been unsure of how to handle a topic that comes up in a session. I have battled imposter syndrome and self doubt. One of the biggest things I had to face from the beginning was my incredibly huge fear of being visible. It used to terrify me to post anything online, and the simple act of hitting “post” on social media had me sweating and doubting myself for days. I have had to learn how to set better boundaries with clients and with myself. I’ve had to work on my own confidence, self-worth, and money blocks so that I actually feel good and deserving of charging for my services.

Luckily, I have the incredible tools of hypnosis and eft tapping to help me heal these things, and boy have I used them! I have done a lot of inner work, especially inner child work and healing, to get myself to where I am now.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I use a mixture of hypnotherapy, eft tapping, energy work, and lightwork to help people heal their internal world so that they can feel confident, happy, and good in themselves every day. I hold all of my sessions over Zoom, which allows my clients to relax comfortably in their own homes during the session. All you need is a good pair of headphones, a quiet space, and my voice in your ears!

I love to do parts therapy, which is where we work with specific parts of your subconscious mind such as anxiety, the inner critic, self-worth, and others. When we work with individual parts directly, we are able to find out what the motivation is behind their behaviors, and we give them a chance to change their role in your subconscious so they can help you move forward in a positive way.

I also love to do inner child work. So much of our traumas, fears, and emotional pain comes from things that happen to us as children, and that little self is still inside of us, hurting. You can support, heal, and protect that younger version of yourself so they finally let go of old memories and painful experiences. When you heal the inner child, the adult version of you also experiences the positive effects and will feel the transformation.

I feel so honored when people put their trust in me enough to work with them and guide them through their subconscious mind. It takes a lot of deep work, honesty, and bravery to face, change, and release old fears, habits, beliefs, and feelings. I am proud of the work I do and the impact I have in helping others transform themselves into the confident, fearless, happy people they have always wanted to be!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am always reading or listening to podcasts or audiobooks. When I need a boost, I listen to Louise Hay’s “You Can Heal Your Life” or “The Power is Within You.” or clips of Abraham Hicks on YouTube. For a good dance party, I listen to EDM podcasts like “Above & Beyond Group Therapy.” I also like “The Diary of a CEO” and “How I Built This” for interesting stories and info.
