Adrienne, like many women, raised Brittany as a single parent and overcame various obstacles and circumstances along the way. Having minimal funding to do anything other than maintain the bare necessities forced the mother-daughter duo to find creative ways to have fun and build a strong bond that they’ve held to this very day.

In 2015, Adrienne and Brittany decided they needed to do something that would create generational wealth and leave a lasting legacy for women to come. Both mother and daughter experienced reactions to various products and had skin concerns of their own, which birthed the idea of Nzuri Body Essentials.

In September 2016, Nzuri Body Essentials was created. Nzuri, pronounced as Zuri is a word that translates to beautiful in the Swahili language. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it certainly has not been a smooth road. We have run into many obstacles while starting and maintaining Nzuri Body Essentials. Initially, we lacked a lot of knowledge and research in the proper steps to take when starting a business. We also encountered many issues with creating a website. In the beginning stages, we weren’t able to afford the cost of a nice website, so we spent hours and days trying to figure out how to create one ourselves.

When being a business owner, you meet many people and some may not have good intentions but will sell you a dream. We had to learn how to distinguish genuine and like-minded fellow entrepreneurs.
