Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Marsh.
Brandi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Brandi Marsh, counselor, and Education for the South Bay Area community colleges. It was in 2015, and one of my favorite hobbies each year is to create a vision board. The board serves as a visual reminder of my goals.
One of these goals included developing a Mentor Program for teen girls. It wasn’t until Summer of 2018 when I made the decision to start establishing the vision board idea into a Non Profit.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Ebony and Pink Pearls is fairly new, and I would say one on my biggest struggles would be my willings to be vulnerable to share my desire goal with my online community (Instagram).
This is a space where I begin to expose my heart to the social media community, with a risk of it not being well received.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Ebony and Pink Pearls(EAPP) is a faith-based organization whose mission is to empower, educate and inspire girls. EAPP is a mentoring program where we serve girls ages 13-18yrs. This Summer we piloted Ebony and Pink Pearls Teen Summer Summit.
I am most proud of seeing my vision materialize and the lives we have support even as a new program. By pushing past my fears, during this developing process, I have been able to network and meet various individuals that would like to invest in the organization’s mission.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in long beach California, raised in by my grandparents, with a mentally ill mother and absentee father, for years growing up, I struggled a lot with my identity and personal goals. It was through my own experience that motivated me to start the non-profit. I would consider my personality of one that is caring a compassionate over people.
