Meet Asya Gashi of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asya Gashi.

Hi Asya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was 14 years old, I have been passionate about acting and singing. I started my journey in my home country, Kosovo, where I began performing and later studied acting at the Academy of Arts.

During my studies, I was invited by a movie producer from Turkey, which became a life-changing opportunity. I decided to leave the Academy and follow my dream, moving to Istanbul to begin my professional career. It turned out to be a successful step—my first song gained a lot of attention, and I continued building my career there.

After the pandemic, I came to Los Angeles as a tourist, simply wanting to visit because I was curious and felt ready for a change. I loved the city, but I never imagined I would one day live here, since my whole life and career were established in Istanbul.

However, my journey in Los Angeles truly began when my Satguru, Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda, told me, “You will grow in the USA.” His words deeply inspired me and gave me the courage to trust a new path.

So, I made the difficult decision to leave everything behind in Istanbul and move to the United States to start from scratch. It has been a challenging but beautiful journey of faith, growth, and following my dreams.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. It has been very hard being alone, without my family and without anyone close to support me. Leaving everything behind and starting over was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but my dreams were always bigger than my fears.

I have been through many struggles in America. Last year was especially difficult—I lost everything, experienced homelessness, and went through very painful and challenging situations. But at the same time, I learned so much. I discovered how strong I truly am and realized that I can rebuild my life, even if I have to start from zero.

Through all of it, I kept my faith. I believe deeply in my Master, and I trusted his guidance when I chose to come here. That faith gave me strength to keep moving forward.

Today, I am happy, more grounded, and I understand life from a very different perspective. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, and I’m grateful for the person I am becoming through this journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer and actress, and I specialize in expressing emotion and connecting with people through both music and storytelling. My journey in the arts has shaped who I am, and I’m proud to continue growing in both fields.

What I’m most proud of is not only my work, but also the person I have become. I’m proud to have a beautiful family, to be a devoted person, and to remain deeply human in every meaning of the word. I value being true to myself and finding happiness in simply being authentic.

What sets me apart from others is that I embrace who I am. In a world where many people try to copy someone else or constantly search for something outside themselves, I believe in accepting life as it is and finding peace within. I’ve learned to stay grounded, to trust my path, and to live with gratitude. That authenticity is what I bring into my work and into everything I do.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have many beautiful memories from my childhood, but one that stays deeply in my heart is from the time of the war in Kosovo—how all the children would come together and share even a small piece of bread. Even during difficult times, there was a sense of unity, love, and togetherness that I will never forget.

I also miss the simple joy of playing outside in the yard, without worries, without thinking about what would happen tomorrow, and without knowing what the future would bring. We were simply enjoying the moment, living freely and happily. Those memories remind me how precious simplicity and togetherness truly are
