Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Garcia.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello! I could start by saying that I started making Lego stop motion videos when i was very little and I started to upload them on YouTube. And since then I got into recreating scenes from famous movies, which led me into watching even more films, throughout middle school and high school. Eventually I started to get into making short films for school work which inspired me to pursue a career in New York Film Academy in Los Angeles in 2022. And since then, I got into sets for short films, commercials and music videos, playing a critical role as a producer for most of them. Being able to manage budgets, locations, contracts, hiring and organizing logistics for the making of the projects.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting started and finding what to specialize myself was a big step. Within my field you have a various amount of roles but I started to realize that producing was my strong side and also was the field I was actively interested in. And there has been some bumps in being able to finalize some projects but that’s the life of the artist.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a producer and a line producer, and I have been recognized by my peers, industry professionals and other individuals as a person that commits into the making of the film in every of logistics and will be able to make the project possible, no matter the struggles or problems that arise along the way. I’ve been very proud of finding a community that supports me and a team that has helped get to where I am.
What sets me apart from others is that, my philosophy of producing is very different to other producers who have different goals and mindsets. Most producers will pursue the projects themselves and the pay. But I’d like to pursue the projects based on the individual. I like helping people, that’s what I like. I like contributions or guiding people. If I can help out another person in being able to make their project and vision a reality, that is enough for me. My mindset is more community based.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Researching, being genuinely interested, and listening carefully in other people is what has worked for me.
