Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Holland.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Started with a desire to help others from childhood through being the person High School friends all came to for advice which led to medical school, becoming a medical doctor, completing residency, fellowship, opening a private practice in psychiatry.
Then extra training in Aesthetic Medicine at the request of several of my patients and the opening of Georgia Med Spa to encompass the whole person with a later addition of pet therapy with the offering of certification of emotional support animals to round out my services for whole wellness… which all sums up to helping one feel their very best and live a life of full joy.
It has indeed been a winding path, but all have led back to the whole wellness of the individual that presents themselves to me for help.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been smooth, but it has always worked out—-not necessarily the way I planned or in my timing but in God’s perfect plan and in His timing… always been a spiritual person, but my journey has made me even more spiritual.
GeorgiaMedSpa and Christian Psychiatric Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As for me, I am the medical director and founder of the company which encompasses Christian Psychiatric Services since 1997 and the addition of Georgia MedSpa in 2010 with additional services of Emotional Support animal certification added alongside what I do in 2012.
What I am most proud of is the joy I see in others’ faces when they come out of deep depressions, severe anxiety states, post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms and when I hear someone recognize and articulate aloud their self worth and when I witness a parent and child happy as a child is able to calm and connect more, maybe even speak aloud for the first time.
Have witnessed many positive firsts for individuals, couples and families and this makes me proud to see these changes and I am thankful for this opportunity to serve in this way. What sets me apart from others is my willingness to evolve and to think outside the box.
I don’t know any other physicians who specialized in psychiatry but went on to reach into other areas/modalities of treatment such as aesthetics (which includes everything from medical weight loss, to laser tattoo removal, laser hair removal, Botox and infrared sauna) and then added emotional support therapy animals to my practice and certification of ESA, Emotional Support Animals, to help others further reach their true potential and joy in life.
It has been my answer to prayers to find solutions for people, and I feel God has guided me as I never imagined seeking further education in the aesthetic field or adding in emotional support therapy pets and certification for pets in my career… this is why I say it is not my plan but God’s plan.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
1.) Having my own children recognize what I do to help others — with my oldest son now working in the field as a Social Worker himself… helping others to find their way to joy and their best life. As it has often been said, it is much easier to be recognized by others than it is those often closest to us… so to realize I have made a difference in other’s lives including my own children’s lives… makes me most proud.
2.) Publishing a small book entitled “Med Spa” and being told by several how much it helped them to understand services and thereby receive such services that have made a meaningful difference in their lives… even without meeting me personally.
