Today we’d like to introduce you to Amoni Perryman
Hi Amoni, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My entrepreneurial efforts began in college. When I am in my favorite pair of fashion glasses, I exude confidence and feel like a superstar. Wanting to share that same feeling with others, Bosí Collections was born. Originally Lashes and Glasses, Co., we vastly expanded into self-care and essential clothing during the pandemic. The mission is to elevate everyone’s self-confidence.
While completing my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Florida A&M University, I worked various customer service jobs and sports management internships. Post-graduating, I quickly applied my Accounting and Marketing concentration by connecting with the community through Florida State Athletics as a Member Services Account Executive. From a young age, I have been a passionate athlete and devoted enthusiast of overall excellence in the sports industry. I then began speaking at networking events, gave advice to the next generation of young professionals, and volunteered on the planning committee for the National Sports Forum. Realizing my skillset in business growth strategies, social media management, and event operations administration gave me the confidence to start my second business, All Things Professional, Corporation. The goal is to turn ATP, Corp. into an empire, guiding other entrepreneurs and young professionals to turn their professional dreams into reality.
After being offered the opportunity to be an Ambassador for the Los Angeles Rams, I made my return home. Recently, I started in UCLA Intercollegiate Athletics’ Office of Academic Excellence as a Staff Associate. This role has allowed me to further my professional skillset and coordinate events such as the Welcome Orientation, Scholar-Athlete Banquet, and Student-Athlete Graduation. The most exciting aspects of this journey involve trusting God and seeing the endless lessons He has to offer. The goal is to never stop learning so that one day I can be the best community leader I can be.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
First, I would like to say that through all of my trials and tribulations, I will continue to persevere with God on my side. “If you knew my whole story, you’d be proud of me.” Growing up in low-income housing and a child of a single mother, the road was not set up to be easy. The adversities I faced in my childhood gave me the strength to confront rejections and obstacles in my adult life.
The past few years are examples of how I continue to face what life throws at me and push through. The death of my cherished grandfather, severed friendships, and multiple rejected job offers, have allowed me to reassess my thought process to see each lesson that is to be learned when faced with hardships. I do not see things as challenges, simply as places God did not want me to be in that season. Every day, I am blessed with the opportunity to continue my story and live for those who were unable to see another day.
The light at the end of the tunnel analogy keeps me going. There was a point in which I had no more hope, but as I try to improve a little every day, the light continues to shine brighter and brighter. So no, the road was not smooth, and it is not going to be in the future, especially as a professional young Black woman. But I’ve been equipped to overcome adversities once before and I will for sure continue to persevere.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
All Things Professional Corporation (ATP, Corp) is a business and marketing firm who help brands strategize the best techniques to achieve industry success. We equip young professionals, recent graduates, and small business owners with the necessary tools to turn their professional dreams into a reality. The ATP, Corp works with aligning brands, and is hired for our specialization in business planning, professional development, and operational administration. Our holistic support, tailored approach, and exclusive network sets us apart from competing organizations. Our services extend to social media management, customer service training, drafting contracts, and career path counseling. B2B and B2C events are amongst our top rated services, as well as our creative directives. I utilize these same strategies and connections in my professional career, employed by companies like UCLA, Seminole Boosters, and the Los Angeles Rams.
All Things Professional left the business at home to launch our inaugural networking event on July 29, 2023, titled Meet The Connect. The event took place in Tallahassee, Florida composed of an exclusive invite list, extraordinary hosts, and our Charles E. Nettles HBCU Continued Education Scholarship recipient. With fantastic food, presentations, and blessings all around, our attendees were able to get great content from our production team (@yasirmedia_, @shelshooter, @mgfilms.pro, @diamondvisualmedia) and a moment to advocate for their business. Taneka Joyce (Founder of Rejoyce Aspirations Foundation and Dimple Queenz B&M), Ayla Madison (CEO of Power, Inc.), GlenAndrea Brown (Founder of Your Not Done Yet Podcast), and Kirk Smith (CEO & Founder of Momentum Investment Group) were amongst our esteemed presenters. After the success of Meet The Connect, the ATP, Corp hopes to host the event again, distributing more scholarships to recent graduates and grants to local businesses.
Specifically, we want to cultivate the next wave of luminaries, who, like me, come from at-risk backgrounds. “Even on your worst day at work, you are still a child’s best hope,” as Larry Bell once said. My goal now is to use my expertise to produce the future generation of one percenters, stemming from low-income households; leading to my forthcoming foundation. When it comes to professional blueprints and community involvement, our mission is to ultimately be the industry’s leading voice, inspiring those who are up next.
Everyone is capable of making it.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The higher the risk, the higher the reward is what they say. But it all depends on how you define risk. Risks to me are strategic plans aligning with set values to execute a limitless dream. Going after what you believe in is always a gamble, but if you are willing to take the “risk” then you will be one step closer to success. So no, I am not what you would consider a traditional risk-taker due to my tactical habits. But I am willing to go the mile for what I believe in, regardless of inaccessible resources.
An example of this is how I moved across the country to a city where I did not know anyone, in the middle of the school year, for an aspiration I believed in. I took the risk to elevate my cultural understanding, obtain an education on professional competencies, and establish a personal brand outside my network here in Los Angeles.
My triumphant Soror, Zora Neale Hurston, once wrote “Jump at the sun, we might not land on the sun, but at least we would get off the ground.” This quote perfectly depicts my ideologies surrounding taking risks. Strategically set your eye on a goal, even if it does not seem attainable. The risks come from navigating the steps and hurdles along the way, you just have to see it through.
