Today we’d like to introduce you to Amen Adane.
Amen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a hobby for videography. I decided to purchase my first camera on my birthday and I just started shooting events although I was getting more requests on shooting music videos which I ended up actually focusing more on that.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yes, especially since I didn’t go to film school. It was very difficult for me to learn from scratch. The best source that helped me is YouTube. You can say I learn almost everything through YouTube and purchasing online courses. The rest is just first-hand experience.
Please tell us about Lace At Fax.
I pretty much run a production company called Lace at Fax. We specialize in shooting music videos. However, we also shoot events such as weddings, birthdays, baby showers…etc. I’m most known throughout the music videos I’ve shot for. In the near future, I plan to expand my company to Ethiopia. I plan to focus more on music videos and slowly transition into shooting commercials.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up in a different country was a bit different. Obviously, when I moved to the U.S, there was a language barrier. Although it was my second language back home. It was still difficult for me to communicate with people.
