Meet Aimee Nicolas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aimee Nicolas.

Aimee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Photography started as a hobby for me. I was gifted my fathers 35mm Canon T70 and fell in love. Portrait photography is the area in which I started which lead me to lifestyle followed by studio. Once I gained a bit more traction, I started to book small jobs with companies based out of LA. A few years later, I decided to fully pursue photography as a career and enrolled to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. It was there that I learned more about the traditional, technical, and business aspects that come along with photography. Since graduating in Fall 2016 I have worked full time and freelance with several companies and have met many other talented and wonderful creatives.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always many ups and downs to ones career, especially in the realm of art. As a freelance photographer work can be very steady for a few months and then slow down out of nowhere. Additionally there’s the full-time corporate world, which is steady but some may find more confining. I have been lucky enough to experience both and prefer to pursue a part-time / contractor position that allows you to freelance on the side.

What else should our readers know?
I specialize in commercial lifestyle photography with a dash of entertainment stills.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career is landing a freelance job with my favorite TV network a month after graduating! I have been shooting with them for three years now.
