Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Rowe.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I fell in love with film especially the Horror genre, it’s amazing how it can bring you into a new world and the way it makes you feel. I always dreamed of being a filmmaker and doing what I’m passionate about. Life was always a bit hectic up until high school which is where I took my first film class. After taking the class, I was even more obsessed with film but I ended up going down the wrong path for a little while and not really being as involved in filmmaking. Around graduation, I had straightened back up and was ready for the next step in life. At that time in life, my dad was taking over my pops business because he had passed away which was very hard on the family, but family always comes first.
For about six years, I worked with my dad at the company until I actually got injured on the job and decided it was time to go back to my true passion film and filmmaking. I would study film and make content, I decided to take it to the next step and go to Los Angeles for film school. I moved to LA and started going to The New York Film Academy which I graduated with my BFA in Film. For the past three years, I’ve been working professionally as a producer, writer, director, and DOP. I founded my own production company DeathRoweProductions and just finished my horror short film Bondo which is the 15 minutes of a feature I have written.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a filmmaker especially in Los Angeles is not an easy road to travel but it hasn’t been as rough as I expected. There is a lot of talented people out there so it does make it harder to make it, but as long as I’m doing what I love it’s going to be worth it. It’s great to collaborate with all the different people that flock to this city pursuing their dreams just like me. There are going to be struggles along the way but fortunately, I haven’t had too many.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with DeathRoweProductions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a freelance filmmaker along with founder of DeathRoweProductions which is my horror production company. We specialize in the horror genre of filmmaking and take the craft seriously. We produce original content and good quality content. As of now, I’m most proud of the Short film Bondo I just finished which will be hitting film festivals for the next year and I’m currently trying to get the feature produced. What sets us apart is being about great independent filmmaking, whether it’s shorts or features. I’m always looking for original, creative horror pieces that will push the boundaries of the genre and have the viewer coming out with a different mindset.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to film more shorts while Bondo hits film festivals for the next year, I’m looking forward to the film festival circuit and bringing the feature film of Bondo to life. The future is looking bright and I plan on doing my best to change the horror genre and push the boundaries of filmmaking.
