Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Rist & Jake Hobbs
Zach Rist &, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Both of us come from out of state. Zach was born and raised in Ohio and Jake being from Oklahoma. Athletics and sports played a huge part in our upbringing but entertainment always had a louder voice. Zach was first introduced to film-making when he was 9 years old when him and his younger brother made their own Jackass stunt movies to premiere for the family. Later learned there were more stories to tell than just ones about getting hit in the privates. Eventually studied Film Production at the University of Southern California and graduated in 2019. The production side of entertainment is still something he never wants to let go, but being in front of the camera is where the child at heart thrives. After graduating, one of the first modeling jobs he booked was for an Indian backpack company. This job was also booked by a few other models, including Jake. At the time, modeling was no stranger to Jake. That was his bread and butter out here in LA, but he always wanted more for himself. Acting was always the bigger desire, but never seemed attainable. Now, after bonding over Taco Bell breakfast crunch-wraps and Star Wars, the two of us are brothers for life creating our own content hoping to continue navigating up this crazy industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey so far hasn’t been the smoothest road. That’s part of the fun though. Obviously we wish the next steps were written in stone to follow, but that would remove waking up everyday not know what tomorrow was gonna bring. Then again, it’s still a challenge you face. Every opportunity is a chance to learn the next step. Some won’t lead you anywhere. It’s a lot of testing out the waters with your toes and maybe learning you shouldn’t go for a swim. Another obstacle we face is time for our own projects. That’s our biggest goal is to one day be trusted to create together on a bigger scale. Our schedules often conflict with the constant need to obviously make money. I think there is also an issue in this industry with there being a constant race to succeed. You’re surrounded by individuals maybe doing the same thing as you or even ahead. If you think too much about someone else’s journey, yours may start to slow down. That brain gets too loud and says maybe you’re not on the right path.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are entertainers. Often finding ourselves making comedy sketches to continue growing our acting capabilities and timing. We feel our comedy sketches have a SNL Please Don’t Destroy vibe. They are grounded within being serious but the issues that arise are far from something that someone may actually experience in life. Aside from our sketch’s we have been asked before in the past to promote musicians new song launches within our skits and small brand deals for upcoming companies. I feel proud that when we promote others, they are very outside the box ways of using the product that get audiences hooked. Making them lose track of being in an ad.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has always been there in a good way during the worst times. We feel when life is really beating you down and the idea of maybe rerouting your goals arises, opportunity comes. Always reminding you, keep going. Everyone has a different path in life but you’ll always be reminded, when you need it the most, where to go. The amount of times we both fell off creating our own content together because of the need of money, personal problems, or just losing hope. The constant reminder that creating together brings us our true happiness always makes a triumphant return.
