Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Randolph.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, I’m Robin (she/her).
I’m a natural redhead, Los Angeles native, UCLA Bruin, former ESPNer, and media professional.
I knew as soon as I was out of the womb that I loved the arts and photography…through the years, I discovered I have a natural eye and an innate talent to take wonderful photographs. What I didn’t realize was that I could make a career out of it!
Much of my photography was inspired by my years on the east coast. I was fascinated by seasons and Mother Nature, always taking photos wherever I went. I soon invested in photography gear, designed a logo, and started to brand my photography business.
After working in entertainment (both on the east coast and west coast), I decided to quit my full-time job at a talent management company in Los Angeles to pursue my own photography business in 2017 – aka the most pivotal decision and rewarding risk I took in my twenties. It’s been extremely rewarding to watch my business grow from a solo entrepreneur to a small business owner with several very talented associate photographers who I have hired to join me at Robin Randolph Photography.
When I’m not behind the lens, I’m working in post-production, to make my photos perfect, editing images for my incredible clients. When I have spare time, I hang out and cuddle with my Goldendoodle Tova, play my saxophone, record a song on the piano, and/or spend quality time with my family and friends. I love sushi, nature, exercising both my mind and my body, and I am a huge fan of adventure and travel!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think any road is ever really smooth…if it is, you’re not traveling anywhere!
I have encountered plenty of bumps along the way, all learning experiences that have helped me to grow as a person and as a business owner.
It can be scary going from a full-time job with a weekly paycheck to not knowing when your next gig will come along. But believing in yourself is extremely important and so is refusing to give up. I’m happy and humbled to say that I’ve done both, and it’s paid off.
What I’ve learned is that you absolutely have to hustle and love what you do. You have to put yourself out there and really brand yourself. You have to get used to the ebb and flow. Some days, I am taking photos. Some days, I am networking. Some days, I am editing. Some days, I am negotiating. Thank goodness, there are many days when I am doing a combination of all of those things! It’s a whirlwind of a life, but I absolutely love it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in portraits, events, lifestyle, and drone photography. I love that photography allows us to preserve memories. Whether it’s family portraits, special events, or styled marketing shoots, I capture vibrant and memorable moments.
I’m more than just a photographer. I’m more than just someone capturing images through a lens. When you hire Robin Randolph Photography, you are getting the whole package: Professional Photography, highly skilled editing, as well as a qualified expert, who truly cares about making each client happy and satisfied with the whole experience and final products.
Life is exciting, and I’m always up for an adventure (with my camera, of course)! I am thrilled to have a job that allows me to explore the world and to live life with so much happiness and freedom. I still get excited when capturing authentic, candid moments – laughs and smiles are contagious, and when you capture that on camera, it’s priceless.
“I take pride in what I do and I find joy in the people I photograph. My ultimate goal is to capture moments and memories that will last a lifetime.”
