Today we’d like to introduce you to Ravin Marie.
Hi Ravin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is one I’m really proud to look back on—it’s amazing to see how far I’ve come as just Ravin. I grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, where my world revolved around sports, especially club soccer and competitive skateboarding. Music wasn’t even on my radar until my uncle gifted me an acoustic guitar when I was sixteen. That single moment completely changed my life.
Not long after, I got deeply involved in church, and through worship music I discovered my love for performing and creating. I taught myself electric guitar and piano, and soon after, songwriting and poetry became my main outlets for self-expression. Writing had always been my way of processing life, so turning those journal entries into songs felt natural.
My passion eventually led me across the world to Sydney, Australia, where I studied songwriting in college, and later to Berklee College of Music, focusing on poetry and songwriting. When COVID hit, my time in school was cut short, and I found myself back home working full-time at a car dealership—saving every dollar I could to chase my dream in Los Angeles.
A few years later, I made it happen. Since moving to LA, I’ve been steadily building my creative world—composing original music for director Matt Spelich, collaborating with my incredible producer Owen Lantz, and connecting with some of the top songwriters in the industry who’ve shown immense support for my work. It’s been a wild, beautiful journey, and I feel like I’m only just getting started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh no, the road has definitely not been smooth. I’ve had an ongoing battle in my own head the whole way. Am I good enough? Why am I pursuing one of the hardest industries? Who’s really going to care about what I have to say? Those questions still cross my mind all the time. The self-doubt is real—but so is the support I’ve been blessed with. My friends and family have been my rock, constantly reminding me of my purpose and pushing me to keep going when I’ve questioned everything. Their encouragement has been the anchor that’s kept me steady on this journey I care so deeply about.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create in many forms—poetry, songwriting, scriptwriting, and film composition—but songwriting and poetry are where I truly feel at home. Those are the parts of me people recognize most. I’m proud of my ability to observe life—the beauty, the pain, the spiritual in-between—and translate it into words and sound. I think my gift is unique because I’ve seen how it moves people, helping them feel and see something genuine and new.
But more than that, creating has transformed me. Through my art, I’ve learned to feel deeply connected to myself—to feel worthy, whole, and divine simply as Ravin. That connection has been one of the most beautiful discoveries of my life.
What sets me apart has always been rooted in who I am. Even as a kid, I knew I was different—outgoing yet observant, playful yet introspective, curious and completely my own person. That sense of individuality naturally flows into everything I create.
In my writing and music, I’m intentional about every detail—the words, the rhythm, the chords, the production. It can take me years to finish a song because I want every part to mean something. I’m honest and vulnerable in all I do, and at the end of the day, I just want to connect. If my music or my words can reach someone—make them feel seen, understood, or inspired—that’s everything to me.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
