Life & Work with Misha Metelkov of North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Misha Metelkov

Hi Misha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began dancing at the age of 10 in Russia, Saint-Petersburg. After many tries of different art forms I end up dancing. My goal was to win as many competitions as I could, before I saw it as a long lasting career.
I was just competing before Covid, but then while sitting in isolation during Covid I decided to move to commercial side of it, and I began my exploring of how commercial side of dance worked, that’s when I realised that LA is the centre of entertainment industry and I knew I would love to move there some day.

Soon enough, because of some events, I decided to go after that dream and moved to US in 2022.
From that time I’m just constantly improving my skills and working on a different projects.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I faced many challenges as at the moment 19 year old moving to completely different country, with a different culture. Mentally it was very hard, it was very hard to leave a successful career at my home, as well as all my friends and family.
It was also hard financially, because of how different economic is here. But I still worked my way up despite all those facts. And now I live a life a was imagining once.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional dancer. I worked alongside Doja Cat, Tyga, Omarion, Lil Uzi Vert and etc.
I’m mostly proud of my Doja Cat tour and a solo moment I had there. To this day I look back and can’t believe I was doing it in different cities all across US.

Back home I was working at a theatre that’s considered of the best theatres in Russia, called Leningrad Centre. It was a pleasant experience and gave me a lot of knowledge that I’m still using today.

My goal is to evolve artists or productions performance through dance and stories through movement.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Consistency, and delusion. Always believing in something I see and think, rather listening to other opinions.
