Life & Work with Misa D’Angelo of West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Misa D’Angelo.

Misa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up in 8 different countries I felt that I never really belonged, but films, theatre and music were my family.
No matter where I was, what country I moved to, the characters in the movies would always make me feel less alone.

I always knew I wanted to give back and be part of this magical, creative storytelling industry, but (as most parents) my family told me that wasn’t a “real” career. So I went into the next best “making a change” industry which was Politics and International relations.

However when one has a calling in their heart, you just cannot quiet the agenda of your soul.

I entered the unknown and quit my corporate job at 27 and have been acting, singing, performing ever since.

I’ve been lucky to have incredible people who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
I have the luck to speak 5 different languages fluently which allowed me to play a variety of magical roles and characters.

But most of all I’m learning the magic of your own life journey.

I love the phrases that says “Be you, everyone else is taken” or “you are your superpower”.

Now when people ask me “where is home”, I repeat that I am home. Because the magic of storytelling is that you are yourself, just in imaginary circumstances.

And if you think about it really, what is reality?

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entering the unknown is always difficult, especially in the creative world where rejection has to be your friend and not your enemy.

My biggest difficulty was managing my time and wanting to see results ASAP.

When you come from the corporate world you have a schedule, a salary, objectives etc.

However when I wasn’t on set I felt that I wasnt an “artist”, and so it was challenging to fill my days with elements to make me feel like I was working towards something and not just in my imposter syndrome mind.

The biggest learning so far has been the power of intention, attention and preparation.

I believe luck is when opportunity meets preparation, and what I can control is how I invest in my time before that opportunity comes

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as a storyteller.
Whether its through movies, tv series, songs, theatre productions, I love sharing stories

I love the quote that says, stories are the communal currency of humanity.

You can find me in various stories such as HACHE on Netflix, Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue on MGM+ and BBC, La Fortuna in HBO and Rai1 and many more projects on the way 🙂 just not allowed to share yet haha

You can also find my music on Spotify and soundcloud

My first single “je fais l’amour” was just released

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love the app Notion, it helps me organize my days, my calendars, my grateful lists and what not.
I love love some accounts on instagram which keep me up to date with the movie industry and directors etc. But always open for new ones :))
