Life & Work with Malika Blessing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malika Blessing.

Hi Malika, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started as a little girl loving the glitz and glam of Hollywood. I first fell in love with Diana Ross in Lady Sings The Blues, I was memorized by her performance and knew that I wanted to be an actress. I also fell in love with comedy sitcom at a young age. The Jefferson’s, Good Times, Threes Company, and I love Lucy just to name a few. I attended Grambling State University for both my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Theater. Grambling taught me the survival of the business. We not only learned the process of acting, we also was taught how to navigate as a producer and as a technical person across the board.

I didn’t realize that at the time that I had a gift as a producer because all I wanted to do was Act.

So now full circle I am both an actress and producer.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles is not feeling like you’re enough or validated. As confident as I have always been, once pursuing acting professionally, a lot of times I second-guessed my gifts due to a lack of bookings. Even though these struggles as a Christian I was often reminded that God blessed me with this gift and as long as I stay true, trust in the lord, and stay faithful my time will come but in God’s timing not mine.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an Actress, Director, and Producer. I have been blessed to work on many sets and among the best of the best. I’m currently producing an IHeartPodcast with Michael Colyar called “Michael Talks To Everybody”. I also have a TV show called “Wicked City” and I play the role of Caden on AMC streaming platform ALLBLK.

I just directed a short film called “Devil in her Bed” which I’m so excited about and proud of.

I’m also the co-founder of Royale Blessing Entertainment along with my bestfriend Tiffany Rebecca Royale and we created a web series called Tess and Jackie #lifeAF waiting to be picked up by a network as a sitcom.

What sets me apart, I’m not sure but for me I love to see people WIN…I love encouraging people to believe in their God-given talents.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the hustle and bustle of the city and the way people grind to survive. I also love the opportunity to grow because of the village of people who possess the same mentality to WIN!

What I like least is the TRAFFIC honey, I literally can’t take the traffic especially the 405.
