Today we’d like to introduce you to Mackenzie Sol.
Hi Mackenzie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Both of my parents were professional singers so I grew up with it. The bands rehearsed at home and I was constantly traveling the country with either my mom or dad’s band. The first time I performed was with my Dad I was 17 months singing My Girl by the Temptations. From there my Mom decided to enroll me into theatre school. I attended for years and ended up working professionally in musical theatre from age six. At 13, we moved to LA after signing to an agency. I did some acting work but music was always my true passion. During covid, I started doing pranks on TikTok that went viral, I got the buzz for viral videos and grew a huge following to over !4 million across platforms. Unfortunately, the viral videos were comedy so now I’m trying to convert my fanbase to Music, my true talent and passion.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Firstly, obstacles are only there so we can get over them. I wouldn’t be the strong, determined person I am today without them. They keep you very humble. OMG, this industry is never a smooth road. This is the hardest industry. Nothing has been smooth. My mom and I left family and friends and moved to the other side of the world to pursue my dreams. I work so hard every day to perfect my craft. I have had false promises from big names in the industry. it’s the worst low when you put your trust and belief into someone that can help then they move on and don’t follow through with a promise. There is a lot of this in Hollywood. Where I am from (North of England) people are true to their word, so that’s been a difficult lesson to learn. Financially it has been very difficult to stay in America and continue to train etc. It’s still the best thing in the world, for every negative I have ten positives and I will never give up.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer/songwriter. I have 14 million followers on social media.
I play drums, piano and guitar.
I am most proud of my determination never to give up.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Don’t follow others stay in your own lane on your own journey always be happy for other people’s success.
