Life & Work with Liz Lafontant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Lafontant

Hi Liz, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a Haitian-American actress born in Orlando, Florida who trusted her gut feeling about following the path towards a career in theatrical arts after pursuing a career in Public Health and never looked back! A nudge from family members to strangers who saw the star power in me, aligned with the truth I felt in my heart. The journey of 9 years in the industry has taught me so much about acting and even more about myself.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Ha! I’ve faced so much rejection, setback and re-redirection. After three years in LA I moved back home to Florida because after the strikes and having a baby I felt it was the best thing for my new family and my mental health. I moved back silently, meaning only my closest friends know this and now whoever is reading this article! It feels right to share it here especially as I am processing the pain that came with having to do what no one wants to do – move back home. Nevertheless! Every challenge and obstacle has lead me to where I was always going and always meant to be! Now my beautiful daughter and I are spending time with family, she is getting a chance to know them at such a young age; and I’m building my family-owned and operated business called Haitian Goods, We sell Haitian staples such as Haitian Castor Oil to Haitian spices and Tees and we’re working having other things in between! Also, acting is beginning to pick up and projects are coming my way as I type, I’m set to film a Christmas movie rather soon! So no matter what I have faith that God is guiding and carrying me throughout the journey!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an actress that is boundless in a way. I love performing many genres of film – from comedy, romance, drama and a little horror, give me the script and I’m ready to play. I believe what sets me a part is my interpretation of the text and how that is translated into the work! I’m proud of that, it comes off natural and irreverent and that will get me to high places because it mimics the human condition, not a caricature of it,

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I have a new season out of a show I was a recurring guest star on called Bruh. My character has a zest and spice that definitely keep you on your toes this season! Catch season 4 of Bruh on BET+.
