Today we’d like to introduce you to Leland Mergillano.
Hi Leland, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello and thank you for having me! My name is Leland Mergillano, and my foundation in the arts began early through theatre, piano, and singing in youth choir. Growing up in the arts from a young age helped develop both my discipline and passion for storytelling, and I’m grateful for the creative upbringing that shaped me as an artist.
In 2021, I transitioned into film acting professionally, expanding my experience beyond the stage and into on-camera work. Shortly after, I began working in voiceover, which has become another rewarding part of my career. Since then, I’ve continued building my craft across film and voice performance, collaborating on a variety of projects. It’s been an exciting journey!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with any journey, there are both smooth stretches and bumps along the way. In this industry, things don’t always go according to plan, and even when you feel you gave your best audition, it doesn’t always guarantee the outcome you hoped for. I’ve learned that rejection is simply part of the business, and it’s important to trust that certain roles may not have been meant for you — while the right opportunities will come at the right time.
At the end of the day, the journey has taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of trusting the process while continuing to stay passionate about the work and to always do your best.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an actor working across film, voiceover, TV and theatre, I enjoy bringing a range of characters and stories to life. I value the opportunity to connect with audiences whether on screen, on stage, or behind the microphone.
This year, I was truly honored to receive the Best Voiceover award at the World Entertainment Awards in West Hollywood. I’m incredibly appreciative of the recognition and grateful to be acknowledged alongside so many talented artists in the industry.
With May being AAPI – Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, what I’m most proud of is my heritage, my family, and their endless support. Having them behind me has been the foundation of my journey, and it’s something I never take for granted.
I don’t think anything particularly sets me apart — I just love what I do, keep my faith in God, and simply try to give my best to every role and every team I’m part of.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I feel is most important to success is Consistency.
Along with that, I think Resilience is important too — being able to stay focused, learn from experiences, and keep moving forward.
Don’t try to compare or compete with anybody.
Just run your race.
