Lamar, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began in high school at Connally High, where I started recording my friends’ rap performances, freestyles, and dance routines in the hallways. This passion for capturing moments led me to document my own life after graduation and college. During my college years, I pursued acting classes, which ignited my fascination with the Victorian era. This historical period profoundly influenced my distinctive style of dress.

Driven by this newfound inspiration, I delved into the works of renowned thinkers such as Manly P. Hall, Napoleon Hill, and Earl Nightingale. Their insights, combined with my unique fashion sense and vibrant personality, encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I ventured to New York for my first fashion week, where my distinctive style quickly garnered attention.

My efforts have been recognized in various platforms, including being named Austin, Texas’ Most Stylish Man and featuring in Forbes, Vogue, MTV, and BET. I have also traveled globally, hosting events like The Digital Creators Music Seminar at Pop Brixton and establishing myself as the renowned Grissibon in Italy. This global journey has provided me with a perspective I have always aspired to achieve.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I always strive to view everything through a lens of positivity, but the journey hasn’t been as smooth as it might seem. It requires immense hard work, dedication, studying, and discipline. There were times, especially during fashion week in New York, when I didn’t have a place to stay and had to find a solution. Yet, it was never just me figuring it out—God was always there, guiding me. At moments when I felt like giving up, God would present me with new opportunities and remind me why my faith in Him was so unwavering. He has never failed me and never will. There were instances when I became extremely ill, thought I wouldn’t make it, and had to endure freezing conditions, sleeping on the floor with no access to doctors or medicine. But the support from my friends, family, and loved ones kept me resilient and determined to pursue my purpose in life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a motivational speaker, rapper/artist, fashion icon, actor, and philanthropist dedicated to spreading messages of motivation, peace, love, and prosperity. I’m passionate about helping others believe in themselves and learn to love who they are, embracing their uniqueness and individuality. As a business consultant, life coach, and mentor, I guide many in their personal and professional journeys. Renowned for my distinctive style and creative sense, I’ve always been committed to acquiring knowledge that enriches the journey of life. I take pride in being Dapper Dan’s most cherished protégé and following the legacy of greats like Dapper Dan, Andre’ Leon Tally, and Les Brown. My extravagant style and extensive knowledge have set me apart, demonstrating that while fashion may fade, true style reflects who you are. My style transcends time and continually surpasses expectations in any setting I enter.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
To find a mentor or network effectively, immerse yourself in environments with like-minded individuals—those who dream as big as you do and have the same self-belief. I encourage you to take risks and seize opportunities. One of my guiding principles is to “make a choice to take a chance and change your life.” Be bold and unapologetically yourself. Even if it feels uncomfortable, step out of your comfort zone and ask the tough questions. Surround yourself with settings where you can truly thrive. From my own experience, I always aimed to stand out and captivate others. A pivotal resource for me was Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People, which greatly influenced how I approached building connections and making a lasting impression.
