Today we’d like to introduce you to Elise Biscaro.
Hi Elise, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was seven months old, I was adopted from Cambodia. I was raised by a single mom who worked her butt off to give me the world. She sent me to a Private School from 1st-8th grade (Waldorf School) which emphasizes Art & Music and Outdoor Exploration. I started competing in Competitive Acting in NYC at 15 and performed Off-Broadway at 18. I moved across the country from WNY to LA at 20 after the COVID-19 pandemic and was signed to my first Talent Agency as a SAG-E Commercial Actor. Over the past three years in LA, I’ve worked on Music Videos, various UGC and Tiktok Ads, I’ve done Commercials, Prints, and got to appear on the Cover of Madden 23/24 with Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills (my hometown football team). I wouldn’t be the same without my mom, who still lives 3,000 miles away in Upstate NY but who has always instilled that sense of dedication I’ve found extremely helpful while making LA my new home!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
COVID-19 pandemic forced me out of NYC in 2020 and back home in Buffalo, NY with my mom (the industry and world came to a haunting pause).
My mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and undergo surgery, chemotherapy, and a port implantation. I flew back to NY to be by her side.
The price of rent, gas, plane tix… etc have gone up in the past three years which had made solo apt hunting in a big city for the first time very difficult at first.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m many things a daughter, a close friend, a young woman who was adopted from Cambodia. Above all those things, I’m a storyteller. I find deep passion in Acting, in Music, in Cinema Arts, Writing, and Digital Design. I’m most known for Film Acting and for Poetry. I’ve won a few awards for both and have gotten to study both at a college level before going into the professional world. I think one thing that sets me apart from some is my desire to create constantly. I know there ARE others like me, but I think what makes someone creative isn’t just what they do but how they think.
I continue to pursue this passion and career to represent the underrepresented Asian American and indigenous women community, as well as other minorities. I try to choose roles that represent Diversity and Inclusion and when I write and create on my own those attributes drive my passion. I believe that the smaller entrepreneurs, artists, and creatives are sometimes where the hidden gems lay 🙂
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I’m an only child. I’m not sure why only children get such a bad rep, but I’ve had various people tell me they assume by my “personality” or by how I act that I have multiple siblings. They always assume that only children are anti-social, bad at sharing, more reserved… etc. They assume based upon my typically outgoing personality, get along with everyone’s work ethic, and willingness to take on a variety of roles on screen comes from years of having siblings, but what people don’t know is that being an only child actually fueled my passion for this career, ways to entertain in general, it made time for me to develop those passions into plans, and made me cherish every character I have played because they ARE usually quite different from my everyday life. I have my more reserved “I’d rather not share that” kind of moods, however at times.
