Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Mez Themonster.
Hi Dj Mez, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my entertainment Journey as an exotic dancer, I came from a gospel musical family so singing was a big part of my life growing up, being a entertainer in the night life scene provided me access to network with people I would have never met living a “civilian” lifestyle. Some years back I was invited to audition for a girl group a artist development company (star factory) hosted & we went through a 12 week boot camp for a spot in a 4 member girl group & I was chosen, that igniting my interest into going into becoming a musical artist. The group ended up breaking up but I wanted to continue as a solo artist but I chose to put my time and energy into another one of my talents, which was acting. I started stage place with a film director name Kamal Smith. He gave me my first shot as I was transitioning from nightlife entertainer to actor., from then I started acting in films. I got with Mula films. It’s a production company out of Detroit and was casted for the franchise series McGraw Avenue and H Block. during my time I never wanted to let go of my roots of music so I became a DJ of all genres playing at all event bookings
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was not easy juggling multiple careers as for 2024. I was welcoming a baby girl and I had to hide my pregnancy from production. I assumed that if I told them too early about my pregnancy that my character will be cut from the series but it didn’t go that way at all. I actually filmed all the way up until I was four days away due to deliver. The experience was peaceful. I was treated extremely well and I felt like a superhero more than ever. just from still being able to work and preparing to give life at the same time was an amazing experience.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a DJ, actress & a mother most proud of my ability to be able to reinvent myself in the bond that I have with my children also makes life easy
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Never be afraid of trying things that you always wanted to do you only have one life you can never do it over. I look at life like that every day the risk comes from not trying.
