Life & Work with Dino Sardella

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Dino Sardella again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Dino, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
Thank you for having me again—it’s always a pleasure! My name is Dino Sardella, and I’m a writer, filmmaker, and creative professional passionate about crafting compelling stories that connect deeply with audiences. Over the years, I’ve worked across various storytelling mediums, from film and theater to audio dramas, honing a unique voice and style shaped by a love for international cinema, literature, and character-driven narratives.

What I love doing? Definitely blending creative storytelling with a strong foundation in project coordination and collaboration. Whether it’s developing an original screenplay, coordinating a film production, or contributing to an exciting new project, I bring both creativity and meticulous attention to detail to every endeavor.

Highlights of my journey include having my Feature Film “Tales from The Sea” (writer/ producer) premiered last October at the”Rome INternational Film Festival” and currently on its international Film Festival run, working as a film screener for the Austin Film Festival, and recently completing a film inspired by the thrilling aesthetic of Profondo Rosso. Each of these experiences has been instrumental in shaping my creative identity and my understanding of the industry.

I’m incredibly grateful for the journey so far and excited about what’s to come—always striving to push creative boundaries while telling stories that resonate.

Alright, so our main goal today is to give our audience an update on what you have been up to since our last conversation. We’d love to hear how things are going and what you are most looking forward to or excited about these days.
Since our last conversation, it’s been an incredible whirlwind of creativity, growth, and, of course, challenges—because what’s a journey without them? I’ve been keeping busy with several exciting projects that continue to push me as a storyteller and creator.

One of the most thrilling updates is that the film I mentioned previously, inspired by the gripping aesthetic of Profondo Rosso, is moving forward steadily. It’s been a fascinating process, from refining the script to working on pre-production. Bringing a story to life that blends suspense, music, and an emotionally complex protagonist has been both challenging and deeply rewarding.

On another front, I’ve been expanding my work as a script analyst and film screener. Collaborating with festivals like the Austin Film Festival has been a fantastic opportunity to engage with fresh voices in cinema while sharpening my own storytelling instincts.

Of course, it’s not all smooth sailing—balancing creative projects, freelance commitments, and the unpredictability of the industry has its moments. But those challenges have only reinforced my focus and adaptability. I’ve also been exploring new mediums, such as developing a Podcast about Classical Literature (a fun one though, don’t get scared, it will not be a school class).

Right now, I’m most excited about the potential collaborations on the horizon and continuing to grow as both a creator and a professional. I’m embracing each opportunity to tell stories that resonate, challenge conventions, and connect with audiences in meaningful ways.

Alright, so let’s do something a bit more fast-paced and lighthearted. We call this our lightning round and we’ll ask you a few quick questions.

I’m incredibly excited about the projects I have lined up. One of my top priorities is pushing my Profondo Rosso-inspired film further along in its journey, ideally moving into production. I can’t wait to see how the vision evolves when it’s in the hands of an amazing creative team. Same goes with the Podcast, we are working hard to make it as fun and engaging as possible.

I’m also looking forward to growing within the film festival circuit—whether it’s screening for festivals like Austin Film Festival or attending others to soak in the art and energy of global storytelling. It’s always inspiring to see how other creators are pushing boundaries and innovating with their narratives.

On a personal note, I’m eager to continue refining my craft, experimenting with new genres, and exploring the overlap of my two passions: music and storytelling.

Most of all, I’m excited to embrace the unexpected. The entertainment industry is always full of surprises, and I’m ready to take on new challenges, collaborations, and opportunities that come my way.
