Life & Work with David Aldo

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Aldo.

Hi David, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born in England and schooled in South Africa, I Arrived in Los Angeles in the summer of 99.

After 7 #1 singles, being named Best Male Vocalist in South Africa and world tours opening for acts like Lionel Richie, after fronting the Grammy-winning and Multi-Platinum selling iconic group Blood Sweat & Tears, I guess I’ve come along way, but in no way feel like I’m done or ready to hang up my hat.

I have managed to make a name for myself by doing private and corporate events across the US. In fact this interview is being done whilst in the Galapagos Islands on a corporate for Toyota. I have performed celebrity weddings…. The likes of Demi Moore and played private shows for many celebs.

In 2010, I was offered the opportunity to front the Blood Sweat and Tears, which I did for 3 years. This was a wonderful experience and the show with the Louisville Symphony orchestra might have topped the list. We played and average of 25 shows per year and included in the shows was an original of mine.

There has always been two parts to my career. David Aldo the artist and David Aldo the event performer. Both have kept me extremely busy and I perform an average of 20-24 times a month.

I was also the voice of Hidden Valley and Armor All brands for 6 years in their National commercials.

My current focus is events, although I always look forward to when the creative juices start to flow. I live in El Segundo and have other business interests including commercial real estate lending.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My main obstacle I guess has been growing up in the southern hemisphere and needing to make it to the USA. As anyone may know this is exceptionally hard and the best part of a decade needs to be sacrificed to work your way back up. I left a successful starting out a career in South Africa, where I performed on many television shows and headlined the Sun City Extravaganza ‘Viva Sun City’, to come to Los Angeles as an unknown.

Hard work, perseverance and commitment were the necessary ingredients needed to put down deep roots.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Albums and singles under the artist name David Aldo

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have always been a singer. My first newspaper article about me was when I was 11. I never thought becoming a professional singer was attainable so I went to university to study business. I was only after this when I realized what my purpose on earth was.

The crazy thing is… All the artists that I grew up with listening to and idolized: Paul McCartney, Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Michael Bolton, etc….. I’ve ended up either getting to know and performing at their homes or singing with.

Very surreal for me.
