Life & Work with Damn Risky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damn Risky.

Hi Damn Risky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was in middle school when SoundCloud became hot around like 2013. Me and my friends would make songs and put them on there for fun and to get buzz around school. Then I realized that I’ma need beats if I’m going to rap. So I started making beats since I was like 14 honestly. I started fooling around with the Logic Pro software around this age and I just continued to get better. Around 2019 summer, I really started taking it serious and tried shopping my beats around to local artists. When I didn’t get the reception I wanted, I just began to hop my on beats which is when Damn Risky was born. I would go on to drop my first single this year on my production and then I’ve just been pushing ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not really a smooth road as I producer or a rapper. I’ve been in contact with people who said they would hop on my beats, even purchase and never drop. Everything I do as a rapper comes straight from my pocket, so balancing that with being in my 20s, working, full-time student, and running a clothing brand at the same time has caused mental lapses at times but I continue to work and progress because I know this was meant for me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I am most proud of the patience I’ve had with creating my own sound. I feel like there is no one that sounds like me on the rapping aspect and producing aspect.

What does success mean to you?
Legacy and the ability to inspire others to chase their dreams.
