Life & Work with Damiyon Morgan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damiyon Morgan.

Damiyon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m born and raised right here in Los Angeles, California. I was born at Kaiser in Hollywood, so I guess it’s safe to say that it was my birthright to be in the entertainment industry. I first started out doing music as a writer, producer, and recording artist. Music is the reason why I am who I am today. I knew music was what I wanted to do and nothing else. Just a couple of years ago I got the opportunity to start acting. At first, I was very closed-minded about the idea of acting. I was too afraid to step outside of my comfort zone. But after shooting my first movie, I discovered how much I loved it and how much acting came so naturally. Now I’m currently taking acting classes and have shot three movies.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think the main struggle with acting is accepting rejection. There has been numerous of auditions that I didn’t get that I really wanted. I know that every actor has gone through some level of rejection, but as human beings, it’s hard to not get discouraged. Now I have taught myself to don’t take things personal, and just keep striving. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and if something is meant to happen, it will. So, has it been smooth? No, it hasn’t. But that’s okay because anything that’s easy to achieve isn’t worth accomplishing.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For those who don’t know me. I am an actor, writer, and recording artist. I’ve written songs for myself and various other independent artists over the last 10 years. And just recently, I began writing screenplays.

How do you think about happiness?
Just the opportunity to be creative. Whether it’s music or acting. Life isn’t easy, we all go through different obstacles. But whenever I’m writing a song or performing in front of a camera, I find myself worry-free and in a happy state. Other than that, family and friends bring me happiness. To be in the entertainment industry, you need a good support system. And I know that I wouldn’t have made it this far if it weren’t for my friends and family pushing me.
