Life & Work with Christopher Jackson of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Jackson

Hi christopher, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born and raised on the East Coast, I grew up during the vibrant birth of hip hop culture. Music was my first love. At just 14, I was already hauling records and amplifiers, determined to get into New York City clubs in the early ’80s. The energy was electric, and I was hooked.

By 1986, I had made a name for myself on the streets. I was part of several crews—one as a DJ and another as an MC. We dominated talent shows, our passion driving us forward. But tragedy struck in 1987 when my best friend and group partner was killed. That loss hit hard. Disenchanted by the scene, I stepped back from the spotlight.

I decided to focus on my education and earned an engineering degree. Yet music never left me; it lingered in my heart like an unfinished song. In 1993, fate brought me back into the game when I teamed up with my cousin to form “Tribeca Sound.” We were trailblazers—credited as the first hip hop group to incorporate live jazz musicians into our records.

This innovative approach caught attention and landed us our first major deal. But we made a bold choice: we passed on it and moved to Los Angeles that same year. The West Coast opened new doors for creativity.

In L.A., I dove deep into recording, producing, and mixing countless tracks. However, after years of working within industry constraints, I grew weary of the limited quality music being released. It was time for change.

Driven by a desire for artistic freedom, I launched my own independent multimedia label. My mission? To provide artists with another choice—a platform where creativity could thrive without boundaries.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not been an easy road i have ran the gamut from being black listed from major labels for refusing to sign a deal to friends seeing your light shine a little brighter then there’s and trying to discredit my work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

I develop compelling multimedia content that enhance brand engagement across various platforms. Eager to leverage my diverse skill set and leadership abilities to contribute to innovative projects within the multimedia industry.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Yes my whole life has been about taking risk from sneaking into clubs when i was way to young to going against the grain to do more jazz infused music when everyone was doing hard core stuff to moving across country not knowing anyone there to starting my own media label when everyone told me it would not work and that i should just get a industry job.
