Life & Work with Cess Va of Carson, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cess Va.

Hi Cess, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Cesspooool — or Cesspooool.com — started as a raw, DIY punk-inspired fashion project, but it’s grown into a full print-on-demand and custom merch hub for the South Bay community. Founded and run entirely by Cess, every piece on the site is created, designed, and produced by hand with the same independent spirit it began with. Over the years, Cess has collaborated with both small and established businesses across the South Bay, crafting one-of-a-kind merchandise and standout designs. From So Cal Vibes and Lil Veggerie to the Glendale Galleria and more, chances are you’ve already spotted merch out in the world that was made by Cess — you just didn’t know it yet.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Expanding hasn’t been easy, but word of mouth has carried Cesspooool further than anything else. As more people shared their experiences and showed off their custom pieces, the workload grew and the name started circulating throughout the community. From creating merch for bands like Nino Bueno, Skyplant Music, Dial Tone, and others, Cesspooool has become a trusted, word-of-mouth go-to for artists, businesses, and anyone looking for unique, custom-made merch with personality.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Specializing in silkscreen, vinyl press, and especially reflective wear, Cesspooool has been catching people’s attention. I offer affordable pricing with customized sliding scales based on the design or project, making it easier for anyone to bring their ideas to life. Beyond producing the physical merch, I also assist with creating designs and logos whenever needed. My focus is on uplifting small businesses and independent bands, with a special priority for POC-owned ventures—using creativity and community-driven work to help them stand out.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the future, I’d love to have a physical storefront. I enjoy working with people online, but having a space right in the heart of the South Bay would be a dream—somewhere artists, businesses, and locals can walk in, collaborate, and see their ideas come to life in front of them. Maybe one day. I’d also love to become the go-to merch maker for every South Bay band, creating a creative hub that truly represents the community.
