Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayla Lockwood.
Hi Ayla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
HELLO !
My name is Ayla .
I’m a healer, teacher, and holistic hairstylist devoted to awakening the light within others. My work lives at the intersection of beauty and wellness, where I weave together wholistic hair services with healing practices including Reiki, sound healing, and yoga to create experiences that support alignment of the body, mind, and spirit.
My path, which I call The Art of Light & Beauty, is rooted in intentional living, ritual, and community. Through my offerings, I guide others back to their essence, creating space for them to feel seen, grounded, and radiant from within. My Wholistic Hair sessions are designed as more than beauty services; they are ceremonial experiences. From Full Moon Cuts to Crown Ceremonies and intuitive bridal styling, each session is an opportunity to align, release, and renew.
Alongside this, as a Reiki Master, I offer private healing sessions where Reiki, sound, and intuitive guidance are woven together to support deep energetic alignment and transformation. Whether through hair or healing, my intention is to create a space where beauty becomes a sacred practice and where each person can reconnect with their own inner light.
How I got here …. My path to this work was born through my own healing. On the outside, I had built a career first in fashion and luxury management on Rodeo Drive, and then transitioned into beauty—creating, achieving, and deeply connecting with my clients. But underneath, I was navigating my own struggles, searching for something deeper, something that felt real and sustaining.
There came a point where I knew I couldn’t keep moving the same way. I was being asked to slow down, to look inward, and to face the parts of myself I had been avoiding. Through my own personal experiences, I found peace and expansion in spaces of community that fostered well-being. It began with yoga, and then unfolded into Reiki, sound healing, breathwork, and other modalities that supported me in coming back into alignment with myself.
These practices became more than tools, they were lifelines. They helped me reconnect with my body, regulate my nervous system, and access a deeper sense of clarity and purpose.
As I healed, my work began to shift. I started to realize that behind the chair, I wasn’t just doing hair, I was holding space. People were opening up, releasing, transforming. It became clear that beauty, for me, was never just surface level, it was energetic, emotional, and at times deeply spiritual!
Instead of separating those worlds, I chose to weave them together. What I offer now, wholistic hair services, healing sessions, and ceremonial experiences—is a reflection of that integration. It’s the embodiment of my own path back to myself.
This work is personal. It’s lived. And it’s rooted in the belief that when we tend to our inner world, our outer world begins to reflect that light.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges on my path was having the courage to walk away from a world that, on the outside, looked successful but on the inside felt misaligned. I was working in fashion and luxury management on Rodeo Drive, and while it offered a certain lifestyle, it was depleting me. I knew I was being called toward something more meaningful, even if I couldn’t fully see what that looked like yet.
Starting over in the beauty industry was not easy. It required going back to school, committing to years of training, and stepping into the role of assistant. These were humbling experiences that tested my patience and belief in myself. There were moments I questioned if I had made the wrong decision, especially while navigating financial shifts and learning to live more simply.
But I stayed the course. I trusted the deeper pull, even when it did not make logical sense. Looking back, those challenges shaped everything. They taught me resilience, alignment, and the value of creating a life that feels true. Today, the greatest reward is having built a business and a clientele rooted in mutual respect, intention, and choice, where time, freedom, and connection feel like the true luxuries.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
You can refer back to what I wrote in the beginning !

Any big plans?
I envision teaching and training others—whether in Reiki healing, yoga, or energetic practices that align with beauty—so that other professionals can honor both their own energy and their clients’. The old world of beauty often meant grinding and self-sacrifice. I want to help reframe it as an energetic exchange that uplifts both giver and receiver. I’d love to train other beauty professionals, maybe even on a larger scale or as a brand ambassador.
I want to guide professionals to see beauty and wellness as a balanced exchange where both parties are uplifted. By expanding my reach, perhaps through training programs or even working with brands, I’m excited to see how this vision grows and who joins me along the way!
Also planning for day and week retreats immersing in beauty and light
