Life & Work with Anastasia Popp of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Popp

Anastasia , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I’ve been a competitive cheerleader all my life at CheerForce San Diego. I recently retired but before, I was an athlete for 20 years & a coach for 9. I loved every second of it & met amazing people and have so many amazing experiences I can’t wait to share with my future kids one day. I recently moved to LA for a fresh start. Being 22 years old & only being a cheerleader all my life, I figured LA would be a great place to start my life again. I live with my wonderful boyfriend Joe Goal, and he is an Actor out here from Chicago.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say everything has been smooth so far. My biggest challenge I’ve had to face so far was ideally the culture shock of LA. Being in the sense of how fast LA is compared to majority of places, such as San Diego. Alongside finding a job. I’ve never done anything besides being a cheerleading coach so the options were minimal, but I found a job at Gorjana. Gorjana is an everyday luxury jewelry store & I couldn’t be more happy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Previously in San Diego, I was a world class athlete. I’d travel every month & compete around the US with my team & experience such great trips. Now I work in Glendale at Gorjana, where I am now a stylist. I love this job because it lets me play around with jewelry & meet such amazing people on an everyday basis & my coworkers are really awesome.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be when I was 11. At this age in the cheer industry you can either be peaking and or still learning the grounds of the sport. For me, this was when I won my first ever championship. For all my cheerleaders out there this championship is called The Summit. It was my first time going and I was so nervous but my team had a really good chance of winning. We went out both days and hit (meaning we had a perfect performance) and the crowd was just impeccable, I’ve never heard something so loud. Of course, the announcement of our team winning was very cool but the best part was when my mom and dad found me on the stage were able to celebrate with me . We shed a few tears but I was more so just happy I got experience this with them because of how much they sacrificed for me.
