Today we’d like to introduce you to Alissa Carrington
Alissa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back in 2017, when I was studying abroad, I took a picture with two coffees that had cute Duomo art from Italy. I thought it was just a fun moment, but when I got back to my apartment and checked my phone, my likes were pretty high at the time and I was shocked hahaha.
At that time, I was still figuring things out—using “she/her,” wearing women’s clothes, just trying to navigate life. I was really into Tumblr, sharing my thoughts, and somehow, people actually cared. So I decided to start making Youtube videos. It felt like a good way to connect and I enjoyed and felt comfortable being in front of the camera I figured out.
Then I moved to California, and everything changed. The weather here and freedom to explore a new place but also myself, made a huge difference. I chopped off my hair and started exploring the men’s section for clothes. Some outfits worked, and others… well, let’s just say they weren’t my best choices. But that’s part of the journey!! You level up each time, learning and growing.
As my confidence grew, I found that I loved being in front of the camera even more than when I started. I signed with a modeling agency, and honestly, everything I do for my career is out of my comfort zone—but that’s what makes it exciting. I want to break gender norms in the modeling industry and everywhere else. I want to be the person my younger self needed so badly.
And now, I’m also diving into my fitness journey. I’m sharing more about that part of my life because it’s huge for me. I’m training as a hybrid athlete and starting to run marathons, adding bigger accomplishments to my fitness goals.
So here I am, still enjoying those coffee moments and sharing my journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road… There have been plenty of ups and downs. Figuring out my identity took time and a lot of trial and error. There were moments of doubt, especially when I was experimenting with my style and figuring out what felt right.
Moving towards a more authentic self in the modeling world came with its own challenges, too. I faced pushback and had to navigate stereotypes, but I kept reminding myself that breaking those norms is part of the journey.
On top of that, balancing my career with my fitness journey hasn’t always been easy. There were days when motivation was low or when I doubted my abilities, especially as I started training for marathons.
But through all the struggles, I’ve learned a lot about resilience and self-acceptance. Each obstacle has helped shape who I am today, and I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything. They’ve all been part of my growth, and I’m grateful for the lessons learned along the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a model and content creator, and I specialize in drinking coffee and breaking gender norms in the fashion and fitness industry. I love using my platform to promote self-expression and authenticity, encouraging others to embrace who they truly are 🙂
I’m also diving into fitness, training as a hybrid athlete and starting to run marathons. This has become a huge part of my lifestyle, and I enjoy sharing that journey with my followers, showing that it’s all about finding what makes you feel good.
What I’m most proud of is my growth—both personally and professionally. I’ve come a long way from my early days, and being able to show my younger self that it’s okay to be different is incredibly rewarding.
What sets me apart is my focus on authenticity. I strive to be real and relatable, whether I’m in front of the camera or sharing my fitness journey. I want to inspire others to break free from societal expectations and celebrate their uniqueness. It’s not just about the visuals; it’s about the message behind them <3
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’d love to remind everyone that your journey is uniquely yours, and it’s okay to take your time figuring things out. Embrace the messiness and the ups and downs—those experiences shape who you are.
Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, whether it’s in fashion, fitness, or anything else. Growth often happens when we challenge ourselves. Also, remember that self-expression is powerful. Celebrate what makes you different and don’t shy away from sharing it with the world.
I’m here to show that it’s possible to break down barriers and redefine what it means to be authentic. So, whether you’re exploring your identity or pursuing new goals, know that you’re not alone <3
